Topic #89315 8 posts Started by Dennisthe10
hi. Just had my dvd player grounded to allow dvd playback but now my panel and speedo lights dont work (spree led installed ages ago)

Changed the interior fuse as it had blown but still nothing, my electrical knowkedge is minimal so apologies if this is a simple fix

thanks
What did you "ground" it to? Could have fried the dimmer switch too.

Damn, friend 'Helpfully' tells me he grounded it to the stereo cage kindasad.gif will that have caused a fry?
hmmm, removed the dimmer to see if I ca see any physical burns (like you can when a fuse blows) and I cant see anything, any ideas anyone or is it a case of buying a new dimmer anyway?
Sounds like you shorted the circuit to ground.

Remove anything just done, replace the fuse. Turn on power, pops again, its certainly shorted to ground.

Does he know the proper color code for Toyota wiring? Cause black isn't ground.

You can bypass the switch by jumping the circuit and see if the switch is blown that way. If lights come on, switch is bad, if lights don't, switch is probably good and theres another problem.

Thanks again rabid, this will be my second thing to do if the above doesnt give me my answer

Thanks again guys, love this site so much, you guys are an amazing resource
right, unhooking the brake line from the cage and insulating it did the trick with the panel lights so im back at square one. Going to scotch lock the brake line to the ground wire on the ISO lead which hopefully will do the trick
