So In the near future (basically when I can afford it) I am planning on changing my rims to something larger (probably 17") and black.

I like white cars with black rims, so I am definitely getting black.

My questions are:
1) Will the rims in the link below fit the prefacelift 6gen? (Will they rub or will they fit)
2) Will any major modifications have to take place to fit them?
3) Do you (as in you personally) like them?

The last bit is just for my interest BTW

Any help on this topic would be appreciated, I am a noob when it come to anything wheel and tyre related and the last time I tried to learn it I got so frustrated that I had to lay on the floor and practice the Vulcan ritual of Kolinahr so I didn't murder people

The Rims I want

They will fit. You will need no modification to your car. I am running 17x8s and they fit with plenty of extra room, no rubbing at all.

In my opinion they are very nice looking wheels and I think they would go great with your car, overall nice choice personally I would try to go wider but thats all about your preference in driveability.

I was consulting with a local tyre shop and they said that I wasn't able to put 8" wide on the car as it would be 'too wide', in fact on the link posted at the bottom the first 'ryan' is my question >.< so I assume that 8" will in fact fit?

If that's the case, I may consider getting the 18x8 version of this wheel... Depends if they would fit or not...
If not, I'd just get the linked ones

I'd recommend 9j max for rear and 8.5j max for the front. Just a FYI. If you're going to go low then be prepared to buy camber bolts. Or your rear will have the uber negative natural camber.

Look at Timmyface's car, he's running x8.5 and x9.5 I believe.

Why would the shop say that they cannot put them on, if they can actually be put on? o.O

I should probably also mention that I do not want to roll my fenders or anything like that, that's why I have to know if the wheels will fit fine

The shop would have said no, because legally, you aren't allowed to drive with them.
The laws are something like your only allowed to widen the track of your car by so much.
If you got the 8" compared to the stock 6.5" you could be defected, though it wouldn't ever happen.

The only problems of fitting would here offset, but even with these lenso's, I don't think they come low enough to e even close to scrubbing/rubbing.

So in the end, depends how wide/poke you want to be, and how 'legal' you want to stay.

In Australia, it's illegal to have anything modified from 'stock' so technically my clear front signals and LED internal lights are defects...
I am not o worried about the wheels being defected, as my exhaust would be gone first... Either way, ive never been pulled over once for anything... So for me, legality isn't much of an issue...
Also, the shop didn't say we can't because it's illegal, they said 'No sorry they will not fit. 18x8 is to wide.' which is clearly wrong... ahah
Either way, i'll probably call them and talk over the phone with them or something... Just gotta get the cash first

Yeah everything is 'illegal' here.
I haven't been pulled over yet either, maye because my dad is a cop haha

Another reason of why the 8" might not fit could be because of a horrible offset. If they had a +50 offset for example, the inner side of the wheel could hit your strut, and brakes etc.

But I'm just assuming they have a ****ty wheel calculator like 'jax tyres' that says no.

I guess Ill just have to ring them up, or show up at their shop and talk with someone there, its obviously possible to put 17's and 18's on, so if that particular model of wheel wont fit, ill find something else that does >.<

Hopefully the package isn't too expensive lol... Got so many plans, but not enough $$$ ( hahaha
