Effects of engine swap on performance chip - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #89620 17 posts Started by psychodriver
Hey Im wondering if I swap my engine for a 3sgte which i think is for a mr 2, would I need to get a performance chip for a mr2 or a celica? not too sure how the electrics work for that sort of thing.
Link to said "performance chip", please.

Yeah bro. Install that on your car for quick HP gain. You can install one per cylinder for 4X the gain. You should also look into a few of these. You'd be faster than a motor swap with all of these awesome mods.

Okay now that we got that out of the way.

It is pretty clear you are already in over your head here. Lets leave motor swaps aside for now and talk about "performance chips". They don't work. They don't do anything other than trick the car to think the throttle is higher than it really is. You can do the same thing for FREE by putting your foot down farther.

Just out of genuine curiosity - how would you even go about doing a motor swap? Do you consider yourself mechanically inclined?

Deja vu...

Also forget about the 3S-GTE, just swap in a 1UZ-FE. V8's are cool, you want to be cool don't you?

That's right. Then you can have a Supra engine in your Celica. You'll practically have a Supra then for a lot less. Everyone will be mad jelly of your ultra light weight baby Supra.

Screw that put a 1LR-GUE in it. You could have an awesome cheaper LFA.

Im not asking the same thing, i want to know if i get an engine for an mr2 or other vehicles like you are suggesting (making me reconsider 3sgte) if I need to get a performance chip for the substitute vehicle or if it will even be compatable
You don't need any "performance" chips, just use the factory ECU. You want more power from it connect in a fuel computer and a wideband O2. Hell, you can just turn the boost up to a degree on the stock ECU.

I talk to people like this if they ask such a truly ignorant question. Read my signature. We're here to help, and what we have done here is tell you a resounding "NO". Do not buy any "performance chip". Ever.

If you want a "performance chip", you should find a reputable tuner in your area AFTER you perform your 3SGTE swap and have something like a Vi-PEC V44 installed and tuned.

Any tuning solution that requires "just 4 wires connected" should be avoided.
