Topic #90039 5 posts Started by celicaluva79
just got my car painted, and its been a little over a week. The guy said to wash it in dish soap, but after reading different things, i duno what to do. I want to keep it clean, but dont want to ruin the paint. whats the best way to clean it but avoid any damage to paint? and how long should i wait before i wash it? thanks!
I don't know but if i were you. I'd only hand wash once every couple weeks with plain water. for the next couple months to 6 months. dont use any wax, polish, rubbing compound, clay bar, and ECT. Just to be on the safe side. you also keep it garaged so the sun won't beat down on one side of the car only and have different shade. Lol.

So no soap? Just water for next 6 months? also, what do i use to wash it and dry it? Sponge? Microfibre?

No soap is just begging for a ruined paint job. Only time you wash with water is if you don't care about the paint.
Get your buckets, soap and washing mitts. For drying if you don't want to have spots from dried water - leaf blower.
Wash in a garage or at night.
Even tho there is hardener in the paint for a faster cure it still takes time. With the proper technique you should be ok to wash it after a couple of weeks after repaint.

As I said, check out the 2 bucket car wash, everything is explained.
