Colt State Park, Bristol, RI. Sept. 21 Meet! - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #90111 294 posts Started by presure2
I wish Brigette and I had more time for the overnight activities. Sadly, I'd say we will be back on the road as soon as the actual meet at the park is over. It'll be kind of like speed dating for us. Talk to everyone for 30 seconds and try to learn as much as possible. laugh.gif laugh.gif

ohh idk, we had over 20 6gcs a couple times IIRC..we always had more other makes and models than celicas at most of the meets, except for the one year that we parked in the parking lot VS the grass..IIRC that was 2009...i actually prefer a little bit of a smallerish meet VS a huge gathering...it makes it easier to do things as a group, and becomes more personal and what not when there isnt 60+ cars.
however many 6gc's make it to this meet, its gonna be way more about the people, than the cars anyway.
I'm so excited to meet the people who are traveling a long way to get here, I really appreciate the effort that you guys are making to get here, I am really hoping we can make the meet worth the travel time for you all!
And for everyone that has already been to a csp meet, and are coming back for another fun time, thank you as well, I appreciate all you guys who take the time, and make the effort to get here and hang out with all of us.

anyone that needs a place to stay for a night or 2 is more than welcome to stay at our place, we have a futon mattress that we will pull out, as well as another full size mattress we can throw down as well.
I will give first dibs to the people that are travelling the farthest to the mattresses, after that there are 4 reclining chairs, and some floor space as well if you got sleeping bags or whatever, just bring your own pillows.

>>for those of you who are travelling, please drive safe, and take your time. I also highly suggest not trying to make the trip here and back home all in a day for those of you driving more than just a couple hrs to get here. >>

there are plenty of places to stay without having to spend any extra money, between dustins place and ours, so dont be foolish and be falling asleep on the way home, its not worth it.
Even if you just sleep a few hrs after the meet, and then leave, i'd prefer that over just taking off and trying to drive that long with no rest.

ok, with that out of the way, WOOOHOOOO!! 1 week away!

Looking ahead at the weather forecast, I'm seeing a 40% chance of rain and a high of 72. Should be an awesome day to have a meet!

Now to get my ball joints replaced and get my A/C recharged this week...

Just changed my axle. Car is ready (functionally) to go. Going to have to use my free time this week to get some cosmetics finished hahha.

Looks like my girlfriend couldn't get off from work, so I am probably going to need a place to crash. I have no problem folding the back seat down and sleeping in the back of my car even, just need a place to park haha. (Did that on the way back from the DWG meet last time. Won't ever try driving down to a meet and back in one day again >.<

less than a week!

The "Fly Low" Project: 3rd Gen 3SGTE
Like the forecast for rain, there's about a 40% chance the V6 will be there. No worries, I'll be there nonetheless.

lol no worries, man. either myself or dustin have ya covered. no sleeping in the car needed. smile.gif

as of now, theres a slight chance of thundershowers during the day, but no biggie, Rudy (the owner of the maaco where i work), always offers his canopys to us for the weekend, he has 3 of them, so we will have plenty of dry space to cook, ect.
as always, its a rain or shine event! biggrin.gif

just an FYI for you guys that are new to the CSP meets, once you enter into Bristol, RI., I suggest taking your time, and not speeding too much, there are tons of cocksmoker cops and state troopers just looking to mess with out of towners, so just be aware.
once your in the park, please obey any signs you see. its a state park, and they are nice enough to allow us to park up in an area that is normally not accessable to cars, so please just keep it under control. no burnouts, ect. please.

Dustin and I have been discussing plans for the "after meet" events, and we have some basic ideas, but once we are all together at the park and hanging out, we will discuss things as a group and decide exactly what we are gonna do, depending on the weather, ect.

I'm super excited guys! 6 days!

This 4 day work week is going to drag by so slow...

I can second the cop issue. Do NOT speed at all. EVER.
how about loudness? how are they with that?

You're gonna have a bad time, but the second you ask for a decibel meter, they back off. Keep it in neutral as much as possible. I'll be in the Saab more than likely, which attracts its own set of attention, so hopefully all the Celicas can cruise into the meet unscathed.
Really? You guys have problems with the police in RI?
I've never once had a problem with them and I "cruise" when I'm in RI....if you understand what I'm getting at.
Exhaust wise, never had a problem either.

As long as you guys are in a pack and aren't messing around, you shouldn't have a problem at all
Figure this is a long shot
But anyone one else that's coming into Rc drift cars??
I'm bringing mine with me. Would be fun to get my drift on at the meet with some other members lol

I also remember pipes car was super loud and he didnt have an issue. Maybe being out of state will keep me safe as well. Your Saab can be the scapegoat!

never had a problem with volume, as long as your not chuckin revs everywhere you go, you'll be fine, mike. just dont drive like an azzhat and youll have no issues.

kurt, i was into RC cars for a while, but never got into the drift thing, bring it along, i'd like to check it out!

I've got an old RC-10 somewhere with foam carpet racing tires. I don't think it is operational anymore though.

Anyone with previous experience going to the meet, are there a lot of potholes/manholes? I need to figure out if I need to raise the exhaust before the trip. I don't want to rip it off lol

There's a slim chance that the lady and I might be leaving Thursday night instead of Friday morning. Getting a head start FTW.

Just a reminder cause I'm not sure who, if anyone, is staying at me and Dustin's house but anyone who doesn't fit at Manny and Jenn's is welcome to stay at ours. We have two spare rooms, one with a full bed and one with a futon, a futon downstairs in Dustin's office, and two couches available... And plenty of parking lol

I'm driving my Saab. I might need to take you up on that offer lol. I haven't driven it more than 40 miles since I got it, and I know it has issues.
Anyone have experience with weird wheel wobble? It comes and goes depending on the road. Happens at anything above 50mph and sometimes doesn't happen at all. Tierod ends are old but still okay, tires are balanced (supposedly) and I've got two new axles now. Could it be an internal issue with the tires? Like the bands breaking? Trying to figure this out before the drive, and it only does it with these tires/wheels. I'm going to try swapping the rears with the fronts (they should be rotated anyway) and see what that does... But I'm trying to get ideas of what else to look for. Never have had an inconsistent shake before like this.
