dont forget black electric tape - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #90608 8 posts Started by CrossCudi
so last night my cousin decided to change all my wires and use bigger gauges to my amp
and also put a stronger amp. (which he couldnt finish because it got too late)
but anyways this morning as im driving to work, im listening to the radio and
out of no where, Zap ZAAp zap ZAp from behind the radio, and OFF goes everything.
I pull over and removed my radio, noticed he forgot to wrap around the remote wire
with black tap.so it must have touched some metal from the car and made it trigger off.
so i open my hood, disconnect my battery, black tape the remote wire, put the radio back in
and i get no power stil from the radio, amp is also off..

im guessing i blew the fuse to the radio if there is any ?

Definitely... Check the radio fuse, if i'm not mistaken, it is located in that plastic case under the hood alongside the fender

My '97 ST slow mod thread
sometimes the radio itself has a fuse on the back of the unit so check that as well

are u talking about these fuses ?
i checked all the fuse with the light up checker gadget, all seem to work..
i wonder if the fuse is inside ?

unfortanately, this isnt the greatest aftermarket radio, no fuse in the back ..

the radio 20A fuse was OK.. forgot to mention.

Your cousin might not have tapped something else for power, or the radio/amp might have fried. If you have a multimeter, you can check the wire going into the radio for power. If you have power, it's the radio or amp.
There's a fuse box to the left under the steering wheel. The fuse is in there, if I remember correctly it's a 7.5A, check that one

Thanks the fuse i needed was definitely in there, although it wasnt any of the 7.5

it was the fuse on the bottom row marked 15, it was burnt pretty bad.
