Ok ive got enough of this mathematic thingy on wheel fitment and I need you wheel gurus to help me out. Would a 17x7 offset +40 or +38 fit and how close would it be to the fenders?
Well, the stock rims are 15x7 +45 so..

the +40 rim would add 5mm towards the fender and the +38 would add 7mm towards the fender..

That being said, they will not be anywhere near flush with the fenders..especially the rears.

Well you can go flush but that'll mean bigger spacers. Lol. Big as in 25mm+ for sure. I wouldn't run higher than 25mm btw. Doesn't sound too safe imo. Lol.

17x7 +40 you'll need about 20mm in the front and close to 25mm in the back to sit flush depending on your tire size and lowering

If you don't give the wheels any negative camber, and use 215/45/17 you'll probably get a flush fit with 18-20mm front and 25mm rear.

I'm currently on 195/55/15 tires with 15" 2001 GT wheels which are 15x6.5" +38 and they're barely not flush with 20mm in the front. You have and extra 10mm of wheel with 7" wide wheels and a good 15-20mm more of tire with 215/45/17s.

Or you could do what I did and get the 05 - 08 Subaru sti wheels which are +53 offset and just get 20 mm adapters, run 235/45/17 front and rear they sit pretty flush rear needs to be rolled but looks good haha
