The ST fuel filter bracket doesn't fit a GT filter. I ended up using longer bolts and some washers as spacers to mount mine.

Anyway to modify the st bracket to fit the GT filter?

So Sunday my brother and dad got some stuff done while I was at work. car is %90 back together and fuel filter bracket issue is solved. Car also moves forward and backward so now it's officially manual! This Saturday we'll finish the detail work, get my exhaust on, and take it for a spin to see how she feels.

Yep plus my 5s was pretty high mileage so I doubt it was at its full power. Not only is a beams and 5 speed now but both sway bars are upgraded, it's on new struts and lowering spring and I have ss brake lines and poly bushings. It's an entirely new car.

I was thinking you did the suspension as well too, should be better than it ever was then.
2001 Miata LS 5-speed
Beams runs well, car is quick. Loving the 5 speed with Trd shifter. Only a couple of issues. It's surging a bit on idle and idling a lil high. Second issue is the radiator fans don't seem to be coming on. Hopefully I can solve those issues.

Check and clean the ISCV for the idle. They are notorious for getting gunked up on the BEAMS. The screws will be a nightmare to remove, so be careful. They're brass or stainless, I can't remember right now, but they're extremely soft and strip easily. Is the engine overheating? My fans seem to never kick on unless it's 100 degrees and the car has been idling for a while. The needle never gets above halfway, but I guess it never gets warm enough to need the fans.

No it never showed signs of over heating. Temp gauge stayed below the middle a bit and it never seemed to over heat. I even turned the AC on and the fans still didn't come on. I'll check the ISCV

So either my fan relays are bad or my fans are bad. Car overheated while idling. Fans never came on. Pulled the ect switch on the radiator and fans still didn't come on.

if a Gt, i suppose. what happens when you disconnect the plug from the radiator sensor. the one near the drain in the radiator. Those fans should come on. if they do, then the sensor may be bad...
Thats the only sensor that triggers on my 2grfe, do that and report

My car is a GT. I unplugged that plug from the radiator sensor and the fans still didn't come on leading me to believe I have a bad relay or bad fans

yeah, your fans should have come on. have you checked fuses? it is very unlikely both fans are out. best thing to do is to check the wring diagrams.
you can test the fans by connecting them directly to a 12 volt source.
do you know how a relay works? you find the coil terminals of the relay and apply 12 volts, you should hear them click. cant remember if there is fuse involved in the circuit..

Yeah I'll check all my fuses and what not. Even if it is both fans, I have two spare sets in my garage so no big deal to replace them. Besides that and the idle air control valve my swap is running pretty good.

im trying to remember, and as far as wiring, there should not be anything that you could have done with the beams wiring in. except 1 wire, which i dont have in my 2gr, but my fans still trigger.

What wire would that be? And it's not my fans, so it must be a relay or they're not getting power. Tested a different set of fans and still no dice. I'll try to get a voltmeter on it tomorrow and see

Sadly no. Jumped all three relays and still nada. I'm guessing I might of made a mistake with my wiring somewhere that's causing them not to get power. I've been looking at diagrams and looking to see if I can find anything that might have been messed with during the swap. Worst case scenario is I wire them up to a switch I can activate when I need them

There are aftermarket kits that have a sensor and relay you could use, usually it'll let you set the temp they come on as well. That way won't have to worry about it.

Do you mind posting here in detail what you did with the wiring? I doubt if you messed anything up as it's pretty straightforward. The only speed bump was converting your chassis harness to start the car which wouldn't affect the fans.
