Superstrut Suspension (INTERNALS REVEALED) - 6G Celicas Forums

Tried to open up the Figure 8 link today and this is what it looks like inside ...

Its not a ball joint ...

Its the same for the centre part of the superstrut lower arms .. it knocks due to worn out plastic housing of the stud in it (freeplay) ..
Will try to machine a custom teflon housing to remove the freeplay ...

no one having ideas to custom DIY repair of the figure 8's ? where are all the superstrut owners lol ..
Considering the work involved, replacing them with new ones is alot easier. They dont cost a fortune unlike the lower suspension arms

exactly the other two arms are the expensive ones!







this pic and video above is of the control arm that has 3 attachment points on it, bushings however you want to call it. this bushing should be moving around at all but has to be solid.

The component that goes out is the figure 8 and the middle part of the lower arms .. they have the same construction .. moving ball/spherical joints seldom wears .. the knocks occur due to worn out plastic housing thus causing freeplay ..
come up with your own?

so its best to go to my local machine shop to get an opinion on how to rebuild these control arms?
