Topic #91975 33 posts Started by a2daj1
wink.gif Hi everyone iv'e been a member for a while but i didnt want to post until i had a relevent topic! I recently decided to buy tires for my 94 celica gt coupe but came across some pretty much brand new Scion FRS wheels with new tires for 495.00 shipped so i fig why not. When i began to put them on i quickly realized that the front wheel rubbed my caliper bracket. Easy fix guys 5 mm spacer should do the trick and get you rollin any questions message me.

Any idea on the weight of those wheels? It'd be too much to ask you to pull the tires off, but if you could weigh the combined wheel and tire, and identify the tire brand/model/size, I'm sure I could find the tire's weight listed somewhere.

I'm hoping it's not too bad, considering the focus on weight reduction the rest of the car received. Can't imagine Toyoda would accept Toyota dropping wheels as heavy as those of the Scion tC (22 lbs) onto the GT86.
yeah I was just thinking it was too much to the sound of the 2000s tuner crowd and I swear Ive seen chinese replicas that are about 80-90% similar and that was around 2009, that car could pull off pretty much any kind of wheel and...meh

If you're planning on putting TC wheels on a FRS. It won't fit. The TC/celica centerbore is about 2mm smaller.

needz moar lower and bigger spacers, then I think they'd look pretty good on the car

I wounder how they would look all one color.. Maybe in the future if you get bored.. =D

@floordauto
Glad to see you popped up over here.

As others have said over on ft86club - get regular lug nuts on those wheels. Tuner lugs are not meant to seat in factory wheels.

As far as tires go, I assume they are the stock FRS tires, so 215/45R-17 Michelin Primacy HP 87W. They clock in at about 19lbs each. Tire Rack seems to be down at the moment, so I am going off weight specs from somewhere else online.

I thought about getting a set cheap and turning them silver... I hate the two-tone design but the wheels themselves aren't terrible.

I think the FRS Wheels looks phenomenal when painted gunmetal. I don't like the look of them when matte though, be it black or any other color. Also Im fairly sure getting your hands on toyota center caps instead of the scion logo should not be difficult at all. Maybe $30-$60 for a gt86 set. Otherwise you could just buy a different center cap with the TRD logo etc.
