comp clutches are not bad, I ran it, even presure did. in fact even my buddies at Phoenix ran it doing sub 12 secs consistently on street legal cars full interior and all.

Smaay, I'm kinda interested as to all your posts you mention southbend, never heard of it. are you dealer for them? I don't mind looking into it on the next clutch change.

im not a dealer for them, I have their clutch in every one of my cars. all the celicas, my high HP Supra and even my dodge truck. They came into the import world about 8 years ago. they sponsored my 7th gen when I raced it.

I push their product because i have never had any trouble with them and their awesome customer support. When I need a clutch thats a OEM replacement but with a little added strength, I just call Andy or John and they build it for me. Thats what I did for my V6 swap. I got a stock replacement disk with a little more pressure plare grab to support the SC. (coming soon) the pedal is not harsh at all.

they also carry in stock hybrid clutch for V6 swap using the S54.

I personally run a competition clutch stage 4 and it's really good. The pedal isn't too stiff and it grabs really good.

depends what you want to do with your car. Comp Clutches SUCK for daily driving, pedal is so stiff and has zero slip. But it holds sh!t tons of power if your looking for a weekend warrior or track car. If you're looking to daily drive your car then go with a Southbend Endurace clutch setup "stage 2" ... I currently have a Southbend "stage 3" and it feels great and holds power very well, but wish I went with the stage 2 because the stage 3 makes driving in traffic rough when the disk gets hot when driving a lot on the highway. Southbend is the way to go hands down.

so heres the question ive been wondering but only info i can find seems to be one post that says
"if you have a 3sgte with an e153 transmission then just buy a 3sgte pressure plate/ clutch"
so the setup ive got is a 2nd gen 3sgte with 99 solara e153 (non lsd) would buying a st185 pressure plate / clutch work
or would i have to specifically get a pressure plate for the 3s with a clutch for the solara?

If you call Southbend and tell them your setup they would be able to make it, they are familiar with the setups. You need a 3sgte pressure plate and disk with the e153 splines and TOB. Give them a call, talk to John over in the Imports department and he will help you out. Great people over there and a great product.
