Topic #9244 28 posts Started by SpedToe169
I finally got my carbon hood!! Its heavier than I was hoping it would be, but still lighter than the stock hood by a good 10lbs. Here are some pics from tonight...I really need to do the meguiars 3-step cleaner/wax/polish on it...

Yup, GTS in black powdercoat with machined lip.

Heres on from the back for John...since he likes it like that....

Gotta be the nicest looking white Hatch, even though i'm not a real big fan of white.... I like the simple clean look. Love the rims, nice and flush with the fenders... two thumbs up... =D

ok, some productive criticism cause the car is so close to perfection

a) clear front turn signals
b) shaved side signals
c) remove rear spoiler

very nice! did u get a good deal on it?
I usually think carbon fiber hoods on any color car besides black looks gross but I must say you either took some really good pictures or it just fits really well with a white celica with black rims. Looks damn sexy.
That looks awesome John! >smile.gif>

What kind of hood is it and how is the fitment?

New Toyota project coming soon...

Thanks for the props guys. >smile.gif>

I would really like to clear all the signals, but just don't have time at the moment.

I got an ok deal on the hood. Bought it off ebay from phxracing. Its a VIS hood and I got it for $477 shipped. They say its supposed to take 1-3 weeks to get it, but thats a lie. It took 5 weeks to get mine and they're kind of assholes about it. The price is hard to beat tho.

I'm hard at work on the turbo stuff. I finally have pretty much everything but the exhaust flange I need...thats proving hard to get. I'm going to have to make the entire exhaust from the turbo out. Its all going to be 3" 304 Stainless. I've made a couple exhaust systems for our racecars out of it....its soooo nice, it TIG welds like a wet dream...I'll post pics when I get it done.

I'm almost done porting the turbo, just have some cleaning up to do and reassembly. The exhaust mani is ported and cleaned up with a much nicer merge in the collector. The intake mani is almost done being ported. I'm just going to have to epoxy some inclusions and weird casting holes up and grind them down. The charge pipes, intercooler, and TB all need to be 'de-edged' but that shouldn't take long. I'm going to have to tap the spare oil pan I have...i haven't really looked at that at all...not sure what I'll need but I'm sure somebody can help me.

I should be sending the diff off soon to phantom grip, I've just been too busy with work to get it done. After it gets back I'll have the spare tranny rebuilt

I've been doing a lot of research at work on the use of synthetic lubricants in CV joints. I'll be doing that at some point when the car is apart. I'm debating putting ceramic bearing balls in the joints and bearings. Were in the process of that on several racecars and I expect good results.

I would really like to do some more areodynamic stuff (bodykit) on the car, but I want to do it all myself....it sounds like a lot of time that I dont have right now.
Nice and clean.

How much was it to powdercoat the GTS rims?

hehe, it was free!! I for Wheels America Racing and we share a building with Wheels America Dallas (www.fixrim.com). I just had the guys do it in their spare time. I don't know how much it would cost to have it done.
Damn nice set up you got there. The black and white make the perfect contras. You pulled off a tight ace looking ride.

looks great man, I luv wut u did with the rims.
