what's the black box on the back of the ST204 gauges? - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #93081 5 posts Started by match220
Does anyone know what the black box is on the back of the ST204 gauges? It touches the e-brake light circuit, it is behind the diode on the e-brake circuit. And it also looks to use the ground from the turn signal indicators. Then it connects to pin A13. What is pin A13?

I was wondering the same and someone told me it's a delimiter.

a delimiter for what circuits?

Thanks for the link! I just looked up in bgbonline and the wire diagram labels that little black box as "Bulb Check". So I think it has something to do with when the car is turned on and all of the bulbs light up. It uses the ground on the turn signal circuit, positive from the diode on the brake indicator circuit, and the circuit that leaves the gauges on pin A13 goes straight to the Neutral safety switch in A/T and to the clutch switch in M/T. I don't know what it does, but I put my gauges in before I found this out and drove around without the black box connected. I had no bulbs in the gauges because I didn't know it had to do with the bulb check, but now I know. I think the BEAMS gauges have the same but it is a gray box. My A/T BEAMS gauges only have two pins on the gray box, one that connects to the shift indicator lights and the ground from the turn signal circuit. How are the M/T BEAMS gauges set up? same gray box?
