Hey all, I've been working on a way to search more than one Craigslist for a while, and have built a new tool, http://www.clrds.com/


The process is simple, select your category (cars & trucks), select your state (MI), select the cities from that state you want to check, enter what you are looking for, such as Celica, and a price range, and you get a full page of results from around your state.

I've got my account setup with saved searches of Celica's in Michigan, IN, OH, IL, and several cars that I'm watching.

Take it for a test run, I'm planning on charging at some point in the future, something like .99 a month for regular users, and 9.99 for power users.

I'm also planning to ad a feature to allow scheduled runs of your searches, with an email feature to update you of new results in your areas.

Check it out, and let me know what errors you find, or problems that come up. I've found that I need to tailor the searches a little more specifically such as hoses, should have an option to select bedrooms, bathrooms etc... but it was built so I could find cars.


More than anything I just need some users at the moment to see what bandwidth is going to be, and figure out a scale for charging.

Three word compounds now work, as well as the advanced search functions from Craigslist., Also., once you've saved a search and pull it back up, you can have it save bookmarks of items from that search to your home page.

So you can do or with the pipe(|)

You can make it look for phrases by using quotes
Lexus SC300 | "sc 300"

even wildcard searches
toyo* cel*

instead of charging, why not get sponsors, banners. youll get more money..

It's something to consider,. I haven't really figured out the best strategy to monetize it, nor do I care until it costs me money.

I'm also thinking I will build the app to go with it, for those that just have to have an app.

way to filter scam ads by excluding common keywords from the body of the ad?

Sweet on the title search option. I meant to say something yesterday but forgot, when I tried it out yesterday I noticed the amount of results given is limited to a certain amount? Also I'm not sure if it'd be possible, but having it search within a radius of your ZIP code would be cool. Where I am located in Alabama, there are places in Georgia, Tennessee, and Mississippi that are closer to me than let's say Mobile which is also in Alabama.

Another thing I just remembered, having a minimum and maximum year would be nice as well, let's say you're just looking for any 60's car or whatever for a project.

I played with it last night. Definitely very cool to see what's available statewide.

I'll add more.sub categories to it when I get a few minutes, but I usually go straight for te for sale category, as I may want parts, barter vehicles and cars from a dealer. Anywhere there is a good deal to be had, I want to see it.

I'm thinking of a social spam tagging feature, that allows you to flag the ads, then I can just filter them out.

Love it I have created myself an account and i second the being able to search by year option that's what I use the most on craiglist because i'm looking for something a bit older than my celica or a delorean, but no luck on the delorean yet haha.

Box,. I'm currently prototyping the radius feature, you can share your location, or enter your zip and select your radius. The other option would be to allow more than one state to be selected in the first step,. I can turn that and the cities in to more of an autogenerated as you select with multiselect if that would be more useful.

I've been testing on my local server, and I'm able to run 5 states worth of CL cities all at once, so it shouldn't be a big issue to make that available to more users.

Box should just buy my 99,. of course he would need 4k to do so, but it's a really nice, stock, 5-speed GT with only 113k miles.

There is an excellent mr2 in Florida, that if I was closer, it would be mine.

I'll have to check there, I looked through Alabama and Georgia earlier but forgot Tennessee. So far I've found ST's or auto GT's. Found two 5GC GT 5-speeds, one was listed a month ago and probably gone and the other bogs out around 3K and had some cosmetic issues. Not sure if I want a 5GC or another 6GC, in addition to staying with OBDI or going to OBDII.

Hey all,. I've upgraded http://www.clrds.com/ and now have enabled it to allow people to search up to 5 states worth of CL cities at once.

I've also given up on finding a model for charging users, charging for CL info is the fastest way to have Craigslist ban your service.

Best thing to do is to have sponsors place ads on the site, that I and many others will ad-block anyway, but that's beside the point. Awesome with the new multi-state search option.

For some reason the new version isn't working quite right, and it's missing the year range option. The old template would be great for now though. I have an account for myself and my brother is the one that noticed, the usernames are below:
