I've had good luck with the Dupli-Color stuff before on colour changing, so I'm sure it'll be great for restoring. It's all in the preparation.
I didn't watch the heat gun one, but if I had to guess you barely melt the surface to bring the glossiness back.

I was trying to remember the other brand of products out there, and that was it. I've heard good things about the SEM line of dyes.

heat gun method is quite interesting.

This is what I had done. It's professionally painted with primer, a couple base coats and a clear coat, so it looks sick. Not sure how a spray can would make it look. I had a carbon fiber vinyl wrap on everything. When I peeled it off there were weird bubble marks from the adhesive. Had to sand it with 400 grit, then had them painted by a friend that owed me.
