Removing the rubber clutch line - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #93491 15 posts Started by Rusty
I have a new SS clutch line I'm wanting to install.

Has anyone got any tips for for removing the back one where it connects to the metal hardline there? Did you come through underneath?

i done mine, but urs is rhd so its other side right? maybe that side is much harder. since the engine is on that side
PB Blaster and use a flare wrench so you don't strip it (pictured).

Correct, but you need a GOOD one. The ones pictured will bend open and round or just break if the line is really seized.

It doesn't need to be Snapon but you can see how much thicker a good set is.

Craftsman are built well enough for this task and will work many times better than the Harbor Freight quality level tools.

Yeah, I'll definitely be using a flared wrench. The part I'm interested in is how do you get to it?

Mine sits above the transmission and heads over to the brake proportional valve on the firewall. I'm guessing LHD don't head over that way?

Snap a photo. It should be hardline almost all the way till the flexible rubber portion.

yeah should be hardline from the master to the p valve. then rubber to the hardline that mounts along the transmission

no ours is the same way but im wondering if urs is on the drivers side or passenger side?
I know where it is & where it goes. Even with the gearbox out it still looks tricky to get too. Photos won't really help as there are too many hoses around it to see it clearly.

If my what is on the drivers or passengers side?

Managed to get a good angle.

I won't have an problem doing the transmission side, but the steering rack & power steering hoses are very much in the way for doing the firewall side.

RHD or LHD shouldnt matter where the rubber line is. Should be from the P valve to the transmission.

Yes we've established that now... Remove/access?

not the best picture, but i was wondering why you have such a hard time...

however, comparing pictures. LHD cars have easier access to remove this line, than RHD. looks like your only bet will be to remove the steering rack out of the way... which will not be easy...

or find a way to move those lines out of the way, instead of removing the rack

Yea your side does look like it has more access.

If I can move the PS hoses out of the way it should give room between the steering rack

If those lines are rubber, yep move em out of the way
