Apexi safc2 vs Apexi fc neo - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #93599 9 posts Started by doory100
I have found these two controllers for the same price. The Apexi web site has the neo as the new safc converter and says it works with the celica. I am wondering which one I should get? I have a 95' celica GT-S 2.2L 5sfe. Also what are the differences if any?

My understanding is that the Neo allows for more adjustments with finer controls and has a nicer display and interface. The SAFC2 is pretty dated, but the VFD display is readable in daylight.

Just remember that as you pull fuel away with the AFC you're doing it by altering the MAP signal to the PCM, so it's going to also adjust the timing table to match the MAP signal it's seeing. Pull fuel away via MAP adds timing, adding fuel via MAP pulls timing. You're just 'tricking' the computer into thinking there's more or less airflow so that it adds more or less fuel than it normally would, so naturally it's going to adjust everything else to match the airflow it's seeing or thinks it's seeing.

So your saying I should go with the neo and it will work with a na 5sfe? I am going to get some 264 grinds done at delta cams. will this work good in combination with the cams?
Thanks

The Neo is the newer one and if they're the same price get it. You'll need a way to watch the AFR when tuning as well.

its all lined up. what about the injectors, should i get rx7 injectors. I can adjust the amount of fuel with the apexi neo right?

what do these shims look like because i can probably make them myself at work

what about fuel injectors? Will I need them also?

i do not think you will need to change injectors. safc will aid in the fuel management. guys often take the abilities of the stock injector for granted.
