awesome. good luck with finding a used one. I got lucky, I think the next time I see one parted out I might buy the ecu just so I've got a spare. even the replacement I got is still 20 years old. I think the bad ground is what fired mine though. maybe idk

Yeah I'm hoping I get lucky as well lol. Again, thanks!
So the ECU was the problem? Can you update this once you replace it to 100% confirm?

If you examine the board and see black marks and goop coming out 0f capacitors you can be sure that's the problem

I will definitely confirm whether the ECU is the problem once I get one in my hands. I went to Raleigh today and left empty handed, it was a 7a. Dammit, if it had fenders worth a crap it could've made up for it lol but no luck there either. I know of a few other places to check around this week(end). If I can't find anything local I'll hit up the forums here and some of the other toyota/celica sites.

So I got a message from another member on the site who's able to sell me his ECU for $40 shipped, priority. Funds have already been transferred so I should have it in my hands in the next couple days. I f'n love this site. Thanks in advance Lamont

Glad to help you get back up and running.

PM'd tracking information. Hope it gets you back up and running!!

Thanks again
Lamont
Thanks for the tracking info Lamont, ECU is expected to arrive tomorrow, so I may just have an update for you guys this weekend.
Received the ECU today, hooked it up and all seems to be well! Let the car run for a solid 30 minutes and it's ran like a champ. No sputtering whatsoever. I'll give it test drive tomorrow and see what happens. But right now she's looking good. Thanks again Lamont!

Glad to help biggrin.gif
Drove the car some Sunday since replacing the ECU, felt comfortable enough to drive it to work today (35 miles one way). So a little over 100 miles on the ECU from Lamont and I can CONFIRM the ECU was at fault. Car is performing as it should and without any issues whatsoever. Thanks Vav and Smaay for the help and advice. And thanks again Lamont for QUICKLY shipped, well boxed ECU that looks to be in great shape.

Good to hear that solved it.
Now I know what to go to if that issue comes back up with my car.
