1mz celica front spring rate - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #95281 8 posts Started by ST204R
Hey all you guys with a 1mz / 3mz swapped celica - what spring rate are you running on your coil springs? I'm not sure if my 4 cyl sports springs have sagged with age or the extra weight of the v6?

Cheers

snapshotgt I think the members name is who did a V6 had a little bit of info on his strut and spring setup for his swap. Are you looking for coilover spring rate or spring rates for spring/strut setup?

im using OEM struts and springs. i havent noticed any sag. Im willing to bet that a 1MZ/3MZ with a 5 speed weighs about the same as a 5S with an auto trans. im sure its negligible

^Yup. The 1MZ is all aluminum whereas the 5S is an iron block with aluminum head, so the weight difference is closer than you'd think.

Yea. You shouldn't have trouble. Iirc the 1mzfe is about the same weight as the 3sgte.

Thanks guys - I guess my springs have just sagged with age then. They seem soft as and if I slam the brakes on the nose dives like crazy. Added to which I can't go over a bump in the road faster than 40km an hour or the front end bottoms out. I'll see if I can look up snapshotgt's post re suspension setup.

If you're using cheapo springs they'll always sag and give out eventually. Might look into coil-overs.

I think your struts might be blown. Sounds more like that than the springs sagging.

If you push down on the front of your car and it keeps bouncing, then they're blown.
