Adjusting the valves? - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #95285 4 posts Started by Tort1llaboy
hey i cant remember if have posted this before but, how hard is it to Adjust the valves?
I rebuild my 7afe and forgot to adjust the vaves after reseating them.. I feel kinda stupid because of that.

Any one?

the BGB has details on how to do it. you have to use to special tools (SST) that push down the bucket to make enough room to pop out the shim. its not an easy job to do in the car. personally, I take the cam out to change shims. its much easier.

You have to measure the gap of each lobe & bucket and refer to a chart in the BGB - There is one for the intake side and one for the exhaust side. That chart will tell you what shim you need to buy to get the spacing back "in spec". Once you do all 16, you can then place your order with the dealer for the shims you need.
