I googled it and everyone said its to long of an engine. 1-3rd gen celica they say its possible. Why not v6 or 3sgte? Tons of people have done it so everything is documented so you'd have no worries and people can trouble shoot any issue for you.
The 1JZ is an inline 6. With a FWD car, it won't fit transverse since it's way too long. The only way to fit one would be to do a RWD swap and have it sit longitudinal. It would be a complete custom swap that would end up being tens of thousands of dollars to build as well as investing a lot of time if you were to do it yourself.

The 3sgte is a very good engine and will give you some decent power stock. If you find a gen2 3sgte, it would be a bit more simple to swap in than any other generations of the 3s engines because it was made to be in the alltrac. (Wiring is a bit more similar)

Just search about, there are a bunch of threads on engine swaps on here. Also there is a 5th gen Celica page on facebook and they would also be pretty helpful.

since you have no engine, ill assume you have no harness. this is a perfect opportunity to put a V6 in there. 1MZ will do nicely

This is the part where he tells us he's building a custom F1 style race car and will be placing the engine mid-car between the armrest and trunk after gutting the car...... (holds breath)
no no f1 race car i just drive a stock 99 gt and its fun i just wanna build up this 5th gen that i found for $400 and make it a sleeper so to speak i want enough power to surprise people

And it won't be a boat anchor like the iron block JZ engines are. Sure you can boost the crap out of them easily but they're still heavy engines.

Yes, we have a supra sitting in the shop and I tried to talk the owner and my boss into the LS swap and at this point it would have cost less and been done faster.

Plus you move the weight inwards and have better balance. I've seen where some people have used an extensively modified 1UZ as well.
