Toyota 86 rims on 95 Celica? - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #96210 13 posts Started by Justin73
My appologies for the simple question all, I'm looking to go to 16inch rims for my 95 Celica and was looking the the Toyota 86 rims. They look great but I'm lead to believe that they come in 16 inch but have a +48 offset? if this is the case, is it possible to put these on my car without too much work? I run King Springs (low) and my current wheels are 17inch with a +38 offset (close to struts but does not touch) they scrape a little when turning and you hit a bump, but otherwise they fit ok.
The offset will look to be a problem, will I have to get the guards rolled or put in spacers?
Any info would br great smile.gif

Cheers

+48 offset. The rims will be sucked in more. Depends on tires you are running.

I intend to use a 205/50/16 tyre.

215/45/17 is best for the frs rims.

I currently run 235/45/17 so I'm thinking the 205/50/16 should fit without too much hassel.

Ha you do realize fitting a 16" tire on a 17" rim more than likely won't work. A 235/45R17 will rub on front. Get the 215/45 like he said and lay your head to rest

The tire will not fit. The rim is about 18" at the lip, and the tire won't fit over that. If it does, part of the bead will be overstretched and probably not seal. Not to mention it will not balance easily

To run the gt86s wheels you need at least a 5-10mm spacer up front to clear the brake calipers which (at 10mm) is just barely enough to run the 235s. 225s will just barely clear as well with a 5mm spacer.
Thanks all, the wheels are off a Toyota 86 and the tyres on it are 205/50/16, so I figured that if I'm currently using the 17's with the 235 width, I believe the 16's should not give me too many hassles when fitting, unless I need spacers.

Yes Peg, the 86's here can have 16 or 17 inch wheels.

Bugger, got a mate who bought a Toyota 86 with the 16inch wheels, after placing a wheel on the back and front, I can safely say for those who were after this wheel option for their 95 Celica, sorry but the 86 wheel will hit the front brake caliper, back is fine but no go on the front.
Cheers
