Cut springs - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #9633 13 posts Started by subsolo_21
I know that most of you on here would say to get eibachs or trd springs, but im not as interested in performance as I am in the look for now, so is there any reason that cutting my stock springs would be bad for my car or dangerous if done correctly? I know it sucks on civics, but from what i've heard and read its not too bad on Celicas. Has anyone done this? This is kind of a newb question, but I'm not an expert on suspension, so thanx in advance for the advice. >smile.gif>
DON'T DO IT! CRAPPY, CRAPPY, ride and yes can be dangerous. $150 is not a lot to spend on replacemnt springs
One of my friend cut his springs. a few months later his front suspension gave out on the road and he ended up flipping his car over. so to tell you the truth if you want the "look" and dont want to spend that much money get the ebay coilovers or contact a guy from the boards his name is hata hes selling some coilovers that arnt the best for performance but are good for the look.
ill sell you my stock springs, so you can cut them or whatever you want >wink.gif>
Please DONT DO IT!!! >frown.gif> just save up some cash money and get eibach springs or tein.

Sold my Celica....
ok guys. I'm not doin it. Thanx for the advice. I was skeptical about cutting mine, but now I'm definitely not going to. I guess i'll just wait it out and get some eibachs.
I had cut springs for a year and it rides better than any of the cheap coilovers you would get off of ebay but the dropzone sprngs ride pretty good! Look at my profile thats how much i cut off my springs!

DONT DO IT, this guy i knew did it ****ed up his whole front end. DONT, its not worth 200 bucks
If you cut your springs, your shocks and struts will go in no time. You should not have to sacrifice a comfortable ride just to drop your car. It's gonna cause nothing but problems for your suspension down the road.
I'm not doin it, but just out of curiosity, how does it ruin the shocks and struts any more than getting new springs would. Also..I thought it would ride smoother than the aftermarket springs, since they are more compressed than stock. Can anyone explain this to me. >confused.gif> Thanx.
All i've heard is that, CUT SPRINGS make the ride quality bouncy as all hell.
i think Eibachs are discontinued.. try SPAX springs.. - 40mm drop.

There's a pic of my GT on the driveway in my profile - on these springs with 17's
