thanx smaay. think this sensor would stop it from shifting into second. Was getting ready to change out soleniod in tranny when this code came up. Might get lucky Sweet!
ok so after looking on the transmission for speed sensor as if I didnt know that was where it was located. is it behind gear selector?
wow I guess its not possible to upload a pic without having it online that sux
a140e Trans? If your looking in the engine bay from the front by the Trans side, it's located next to the breather. you should be able to see the connector going to it.
thanx spidey I think the damn end of the sensor is broke off in the tranny which sux! not sure what im going to do yet. The weird part is most parts stores say that it doesnt have one. I swapped this tranny out years ago think I pulled it out of a camry not sure. It is a a140 though. It wont shift into second clean and is giving a 42 code so if Im opening it up fixing to replace the number 2 solenoid and fix stupid sensor while Im at it.
That would be an A140E, the A140L only came in

well pulled a code 42 which is the no. 1 speed sensor. I didnt know there were 2 speed sensors in a a140e. I know where the speed sensor is under the throttle body but where the hell is the number 1 sensor. Looked at schematics and still cant tell. any help would be appreciated!!!! and if your around ft worth I ll buy you a beer!!!!! wink.gif
thanx man yeah found it yesterday. Pulled vss and cleaned it up connector looked fried so rewired and no more code yeah. Celi still wont shift into second though so I going to swap out number 2 solenoid today.
That PDF has all you need to help diagnose the shifting issue, too.

there is a write up on replacing the solenoids...I think trdprove wrote it. should be in stickies somewhere. but what those guys said, the a140e manual has all you will need to know own to further troubleshoot.
If I was back in town I'd give you a hand, especially when beer is involved. But I'm in Flordia getting my EPA 608 certificate and additional schooling.
