Radiator fan issue - 6G Celicas Forums

My beams is up and running, and seems to be running well. However there are some small issues. It's surging a bit on idle and idling a tad high. The idle speed control valve I guess? I'd like to know for sure though. The other small issue is that my radiator fans don't seem to be kicking on. Any ideas as to why this is happening? I'd like to solve these small issues so my beams can be %100. Any help will be appreciated

Sounds like the coolant sensor to PCM, since it'd cause both issues. At least that's where I'd start.

Yes, the IAC probably needs to be cleaned.

So car overheated while idling, fans did come on at all. I'm guessing I have a bad relay or fans? Pulled the ect switch on the radiator and fans still didn't come on

Silly question but just checking the basics first, are the fans plugged in nice and tight? Did you try unplugging the temp sensor at the bottom of the radiator to get them to kick on?

Connections seem tight, unplugged the connection to that sensor at the bottom and they still didn't come on

If they were working fine before the swap I'd think it'd be something that's changed since then. When it overheated did you use an external source to double check or was it purely by the gauge? You could try jumping the relay block to see if they'll kick on.

I wasn't there when it overheated. It was at the mechanics getting tie rods and an alignment. They said it started to overheat and it started to discharge coolant after idling for 10-15 minutes.
