st205 seat belts - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #97131 5 posts Started by cellocinema
driver side seat belt got loose so i plan to replace the unit('95 celica st). i found one but it's from '94 st205. does anyone confirm that it fits '95 usdm?
i thought jdm replacement is better because the left is passenger side on rhd(less frequently used).
why, they sell oem celica seat belts, latch and belt side all day long on ebay

well, if it's used usdm, i'm concerned about the condition(it might be the same condition with mine). with new aftermarket one, i'm not perfectly sure of full compatibility. and with new oem, they sell it at much higher price on eBay than at official toyota store. so i decided to go for used jdm. but of course i'm looking for better option.

* what's your opinion about this item? >>>>aftermarket seat belt on ebay>>>> i like the copper color and it says it's compatible with '95 st. the male part shape should be same w/ oem cause female part seems not included.
**weird. i contacted japanese toyota store, but they said it was discontinued.

i ordered aftermarket belts(from eBay), but they are not a good fit for '95 st(the male clip is too big) frown.gif . i guess they are made for '96-99 celica. returning them is a hassle, and i want to try modifying them. i'll try to remove the male ends and to replace with the existing ones. before proceeding, i just want to make sure that there is no problem installing them(bracket size, location and such). maybe nobody has tried it before? i appreciate any input regarding this issue.

an important heads up. the tensioner of seat belts for '94-95 celica is installed in a tilted direction, not upright. i think most universal seat belts don't fit. if you install it upright, it would not function properly as it works only when pulling force is applied perpendicularly to the main axis of the tensioner body.
i had to return the seat belts. i'm very disappointed because the seller described that it is compatible with '94-95 celica.
