Topic #9766 13 posts Started by 7A-FEces
What does the Celica use for tranny fluid? Tegs use regular 5w-30 oil. Was wanting to change it out. Also how much does it need. I have an 5 speed ST.

Thanx guys. So regular mobil 1 will work then? And 97 gtinkc is the 75w-90 the oil grade I need if I were to get amsoil? And what is 5.3 pints in qts?
in my c52 (in a corolla, should be nearly identical for your celica st) tranny we put in 85w-90 gear oil..... it's a bitch to get in.... and we needed 2.7 quarts

when you fill it (the fill bolt is on the side of the tranny near that top, should be facing you when you open the hood) you should be able to just stick the tip of your pinky into the oil when you put it into the fill hole....
The factory recomended(sp?) oil is 75w90. And as far as pouring the oil, it's much easier with a 'beer bong' type funnel.
Guess I'll buy 3 qts then. Planning to do a swap so I'll just use the regular 75w-90 on my ST's tranny.
how much should i pay a shop to swap the tranny oil in my stick? I have no idea how to do this stuff >rolleyes.gif> so i'd like your guy's knowlegable opinions on this please >biggrin.gif>
