Having issue - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #98496 6 posts Started by Manny01
HI folks,

I drive a decent 95 celica. The problem with the car is every time I dry over a small puddle of water I have trouble turning the steering wheel. It feels like water is being splash under car. I looked a under the car and it still has the splash shield.

Any thoughts on what is causing this or how water may be affecting my steering?
How can I fix this?

Thanks!

hhmmm water should have no effect on the steering system. have you checked the fluid? take off the plastics and check for leaks?

I did. It looks fine. Every time I go over a small puddle I can barely turn the car. Also, when it rains the car start to make noise. Sounds like the AC belt is about to go crazy. However, on normal days it works and sounds great. Any suggestions?
Have you gotten the car on a lift and done a thorough inspection of everything? Could be your power steering pump, rack, fluid, etc.

ok now i believe it to be a power steering belt. it gets wet and slipps, thats why its hard to turn. and cold makes belt squeal too. check the tension on the belt

And replace the missing splash shield, that helps a lot too.
