Yes will be there. I'm looking forward to see tweety. Been loving that yellow since I seen the pics.

I will putting new tires early morning tomorrow to. They just came in today.
I'm working on my car a bit this evening too! My Black Celica should be good to go for tomorrow! I look forward to seeing all of you at Gino's! smile.gif

We just left the DMV (opposite direction) and the coilovers need some massive adjustment. We are trying but may be late.

Does it count if I’m there in spirit while I do some upgrades to my car?

My car isn't done. Not safe.
And clearly therefore not making it.

Sorry everyone. I hate procrastination.
Wha happen?

I got about halfway to Chicago today before I started having troubles too. frown.gif My caliper was rubbing & seizing up in reverse. And I'm pretty sure the preload on that coil is wrong.

I'm sad I missed everyone, I hope you all had fun.

You all make it back home safely I hope?

Yes, we made it home safely! Turns out we had a caliper bolt vibrate out, and it was gone. Several other bolts were also loose too. The load on one of my coils is off, causing extra bouncing and vibrations on that one wheel. I plan to call BC tomorrow to figure out what the load is supposed to be, so I can reset it. Yay!

When you mentioned the reverse issue I kind of figured that was the case, blue loctite and a torque wrench are a good investment. Even if you don't have the exact torque spec there's charts for general torque by fastener size that are close enough, until the ole hand click torque wrench is calibrated of course.

I think BC has a video on setting the pre-load, mine were ready to go out of the box.

I was actually going to suggest that since you were halfway to Chicago, finish the journey and get the best group of Celica gurus in the Midwest to take a look at it. Glad you made it home safe!

Glad I'm not the only one who has brake issues. I had one of the rear caliper bracket bolts come out in my ES330 once. It pivoted and then jammed itself between the other bolt pivot and the wheel, locking up the wheel. Thankfully, we were coming to a stop anyways.

I now put blue thread locker on all of my caliper bracket bolts and torque to spec. The only bolts that I really torque to spec are those and my wheel lugs.

Seems like we're all having a bit of issues lately.. Glad everyone is safe and hopefully we all fix our issues. smile.gif

We will have to plan a lunch day soon.
Tweety *should* be ready and aligned by the weekend (longest wait of my life)
I'm going to just blame Jake, what did he do?

Waited too long basically.

What happened specifically on Saturday is the adjustments on the front coilovers were off and one felt like it was binding. The camber was not set right etc so it was all over the road.
This after we found a nail through one of my tires Friday night so we hustled to patch that thinking things were on the right path.

But the camber bolts are done in the back, the adjustments are done on the front, new tie-rod ends put on and now it's going for an alignment.

My stereo wiring is all in place and my seat swap from leather to cloth is done too, so it kind of worked out in the sense it will look better as a whole.
I'm bad at saying things nicely so here we go.

Everyone screws stuff up with their first coilover install. Initially my car was so low I couldn't get the lift pads out from under it so I had to raise it back up, but then the rear was too low and had the roll center all out of wack, then my alignment was too conservative, then I had the dampening set wrong, took me like 2 years to get everything set JUST right to how it is now and even now it's not perfect and it never will be perfect because I picked some stupid spring rates and have a stupid stiff front sway bar AND the poly bushings are starting to make some noise sometimes now so I've got that going for me too which is great.

Point is, things rarely are cut and dry and rarely go right the first or second time. It's better to take a little longer and be safe and confident in your work then to wonder if your wheel is going to fall off, which I still worry about.

Agree wholeheartedly. Rather safe than sorry

I can't drive mine without coilovers because the 17 inch rims make it look like a tonka truck on stock suspension in the rear haha
So like a 7G Celica? More fender to tire clearance than some SUV's!
