Hey everyone, Im new to the community. I just bought my 94 Celica st and it is the 2nd Celica Ive owned. I love this car already and buying it was almost accidental (just needed a new car quick) however it is an automatic and has >220,000. It runs great but I think Im going to put a manual transmission in and do an engine swap (for more power and eventually adding a turbo). Could anyone give me advice on what engine to get (based of price and best quality) as well as any advice on actually swapping them both out. Any advice is very much appreciated thanks everyone.

Really, you can get the turbo 3sgte from Japan for about $1,200 plus some custom wiring. But even just the stock 5sfe will still run you $900 from a salvage yard.

Bust a Deal; Face the Wheel.
welcome!
You can take a look through my thread. I'm just about to finish swapping my auto ST as well.

any swap isn't going to be easy and it'll probably cost more than you have in mind so the best thing to do right now is read up on all those links up there ^ and search through the forums. Also, have a power goal in mind as well as a budget and timeline. There will be lots of little things you'll need along the way as I've found out and it adds to the cost but all in all it is very doable with the right knowledge and mindset.
