Cabins for rent
Not sure about the cabins. Not enough people seem to want to make it a long weekend. Unless that changes, I haven't even seen if they had any available for that weekend.
I might grab a hotel.

Thanks for the cabin info!
I would need to stay somewhere, because it's a 6 hour drive for me!

Doesn't seem like it would be too bad. I've driven a 9 hour drive round trip (one day each way) and an 17 hour drive (straight through, only stopping for gas), alone when I visited Pittsburgh, PA and when I moved from Houston, Tx to Dubuque, IA. Road trips are much better when you have a co-pilot.
I'm down to co-pilot or split the drive with anyone who passes near or through Chicago or the near suburbs.
Manual or auto, no problem either way.

I'd be up for a cabin even it's just one night or something. But the drive is only about 4 hours which isn't bad. Definitely can be done in a day's time.

I would be down to split a cabin - Given its a saturday meet, and my job isn't open sunday, That would be an option.

the cabins: indicates 2 nights minimum.I was planing to take my kids but just for one night. I'm guessing if a few of us roll together or meet on the way, we can do the long cruise together, since we mostly are going north. .
Sorry for double post- can't just edit my own posts because they still don't appear on their own.
Obviously, If we're all gonna cruise together, It would be best to meet in a large parking lot as close to the highway as possible. Do we have a route planned?
I would suggest that we meet up at "Rest Stop 26" in Wisconsin right off of 41. The parking lot is just north of the Pleasant Prarie Premium Outlets in Wisconsin
Heading north from the city on I-94 (The Edens) through the North Shore would mean that there are no tolls at all once you are on that highway and all the way to Devil's lake. Its about a 2.5 hour drive from there, and of course no tolls, so it would be pretty easy to plan a stop for gas or to stretch legs (if necessary) on the way- somewhere just outside of Madison makes sense to me. The route I've got in mind shows no stop lights at all.
Here's the directions I'm thinking of, for those coming up through chicago or the north shore of chicago:

Is it the date or location? Not that it's going to change just for you. 😉
>
It's the location for us.
But I want you guys to try new spots! Eventually the kids will be old enough for roadtrips, and I'd love to branch out. I've only been talking about it for years.....

I think this goes without saying but were out for this meet. With a trip to Miami in April and a family trip to Yellowstone in May, neither of us can get the time off work for this meet. Maybe we can load up the puppers and make a fall meet though, as long as it doesnt overlap with my Vegas trip.

When is your Vegas trip? Let's get dates, so we know what to avoid.

2 people that can't go clogging up the thread.
Jk.
** Update **
Contacted the place that had cabins... AND THEY HAD SOME AVAILABLE. Would like to know for sure how many people would be interested in staying/ making it a long weekend (I plan on the 23 - 26 of April).

I might be out, Erin's got a thing and won't be home so I'm on dog-sitting duty. Not sure I can wrangle them both by myself in the Celica for a LONG ass day trip like that and getting a hotel with them overnight is probably a no-go with just me because they get antsy/barky at hotels.

I'm real close by so I won't be staying at the cabins but I'm down to hang out around there until whenever.

*1997 Celica ST - 3SGE Greytop BEAMS*1977 Celica RA29 - Classic Cruiser*2005 Matrix AWD - dedded but still hanging around like a ghost2019 Rav4 XLE Premium - Sports mode is fun.
If there would be 3ish plus people to share/ split the cabin it would be worth it, otherwise a hotel would be cheaper.
Been heavy on board neglect here I apologize.
Jake and I are in.
I feel like dogs and children should not be deterring you core members from coming, FYI.
Even if you guys didn't want to trek all the way home in one day there's options other than the expense of the Dells toward Madison, and it's a really nice calm place unlike say, Chicago.
We'll probably make our own arrangements for staying if we choose not to drive home.

Words well spoken.
Sounds like I'll contact the cabin rental place and tell them it's a no go.

I did this a few years ago and it was the most fun I had in a while (I used to race go karts nationally). It was practice, one heat, and one big feature race. I wasn't used to the adrenaline and abuse in the karts, so I almost threw up that evening when my body started catching up. haha!
https://sugarriverraceway.com/
It included EVERYTHING. I had my own suit and gear, but they have everything there that you'd need. It was only like $80 for the day. SOOOO much more than you get with any indoor place and it was a complete blast. There was probably close to 20 people racing. I think I may do this again this year for my birthday regardless.

Slight bit off topic:
I'm possibly buying a 6gc tomorrow that came up semi local.
its gonna be a little rough, for sure, not expecting much more than a mobile storage unit and A-B
https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/5...essenger_banner
The good:
1994 Celica GT Liftback
White
5MT
body is all one color, doesn't look rotted out or anything of that nature
New radiator
Recent "minor tune up" (Oil change, spark plugs, maybe some other stuff)
The bad:
No heat, claims it needs a thermostat installed, owner is including part in sale. I don't care about it not having heat, we're almost out of winter here.
Car needs a windsheild as the current has spider cracks on the passenger side. Shouldn't be that hard to get, safelite lists it at ~$200 with R&R.
Some rust near door jam on bottom of driver rocker
Car is 1000 obo. trying to get it for no more than 750.

That's like $500 car definitely not $1000
