Here is the deal... i talked to one guy here, he has VW Corrado with like 450hp and stuff, he made these things before, and so on. He looked at my header and ya know what... He told it was made WRONG... So im kinda sad, cuz i trust this guy... First thing is that pipes diameter is to big to spool up turbo quick... Second, i did the BIG mistake shaving the welding marks... It will crack in these places then it will be hot... So... I think this header must go..... Going to give it another try this weekend with the smaller pipes, will see what happends...

Laterz.... >frown.gif>

well look at it this way.. you found out before the enter system was installed and you did same damage to your engine.. well R i wish you the best i know it will turn out good..

This is why you made two things to bolt up to your engine. >wink.gif>

well... I'm no expert but.... the pipe size for the exhaust system has always been proportional to the amount of power you will be making. More power equals more exhaust pressure so it really just depends on the hp numbers your looking for. Also the type of turbo has alot to do with it as well. I'd recomend a t3/t4 hybrid. I hear tons of good things about them. but like I said, I'm no expert. Just going off the things I've read.

Yeah something else you have to think about dogman is obviously the length of the pipes, both from the manifold to the first join (4-2), and from there to the downpipe (2-1).

I have heard that the primary pipe length should be fairly long and as straight as possible to help pull the exhaust out, but obviously with ur turbo sitting there it will be a different story.

I think your diameter is probably ok, it might not be optimal, but its really hard to do something like that and make everything work perfectly. It usually takes several attempts. The only thing I see wrong is you should have welded the pipes to the turbo flange before welding them to the header. In fact, you should always start at the flanges and work your way toward the middle. There are a number of reasons for this. First off, you can control the entry/exit angles of the tubes so that they point at the turbine the way you want, and exit the engine at the correct angle. And secondly, and almost more importantly, you can weld up the area inbetween the tubes on the turbo flange. Its really tough to do and I think its probably a lot easier if you have more room.
off topic, dont want to sound ghetto but serious props man, been meaning to tell you this before but your car is simply f&#k'n amazing before, and well this facelift looks to be even better. I wish I could pour money in my ride but $10.50 an hour sucks. Sweet ass job man, this is what patience, time, love and money can get you.
youcan get your 4 to one bell in many different sizes i think burnsstainless.com makes these peices for relatively cheap
ok, here we go again.

Worked like 12 hours on that Sucker again, and ya know what? ITS FINALLY FINISHED. Flame me say what you want, but it came GOOD to me >smile.gif> Cuz in over all time spent on this it is like 30 hours of work. So, it is not the best looking one, but i think it will work without major problems >smile.gif> Check it out >biggrin.gif>

What happened to not grinding down the welds?

Project ST204.5 99.88946% complete...
looks great....oo oo i want one i want one ; ) makes me wish i had a turbo
are all four pipes the same size and shape?
Looks good! If I could afford it, I would buy you a TIG welder and ship it over there. You wouldn't believe the difference it makes! It will make anybody look like a pro with a little practice.
looks hot man.

Well, got some updatres for ya guys >smile.gif> I worked whole weekend on my car, on all kinds of stuff. Finally, made a place for my IC, moved my radiator fan in front or radiator, moved my oil cooler a bit (still need to figure out other palce for my oilcooler, cuz now it is standing behind the IC), got GT4 fuel pump installed, made a lot of stuff on the exterior >wink.gif> Here are some pics >smile.gif>

Well, now i have plenty of space for my downpipe and for other stuff. It was paint in the A$$ to get the fan in fron of radiator, cuz i already moved my radiator in fron like a 1 inch, so i hade to remove it again, and hade to remove some bars that hold up hood lock... but, the result is good.

Fianally, i got my IC installed >smile.gif> Pretty happy how my car looks >smile.gif> the IC will be polished soon fully, but now i have all the mountings ready, so it wount take my time then i will be ready to install the turbo. One step closer to the PSSSSSSSSSSSSssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhttt sound >biggrin.gif> >biggrin.gif> >biggrin.gif>

And got my GT4 fuel pump installed. Practicly it wasnt hard job, everything on GT4 fuel pump is the same as on ours, but the GT4 fuel pum is a bit longer, so the outlet of the pump must be shortenet a bit. It is working now good >smile.gif>

Well, soon gonna post more stuff, but for now thats it >smile.gif> happy viewing.

that great man, can't wait to see it on your car.

Well I dont mean to bash but there are 2 things that I wanted to ask before you run this thing first is the what is the exhaust size of the turbo that you are going to run also what kinda Hp. are you looking to make? Because thermal expansion can fracture the header bolts so over size those also the flang can warp under high temp. this will break welds cutting the flang will help with this problem.. this is for high Hp. apps.
Smooth, constant velocity is what you want
I do have one other question what is the thickness of your tubeing it could be a problem.
As for the down pipe figure 10% larger than turbine outlet diameter. also when you weld the down pipe flange weld in 1/2" increments that will help. I hope that helps you out
