Bad bearing somewhere, you need to isolate where though. Alternator or AC clutch would be my guesses but it could even be part of the timing belt....

First suspect in idle issues is a sticky IACV (intake air control valve). Otherwise, start looking for vacuum leaks....

Keep in mind that the old tensioner can go bad and snap your new timing belt....

Regarding the ignition switch - is it possible to remove it without pulling the steering wheel and shaft assembly?
Can it be opened to see the contact...
look at the shifter assembly, one of the pins might have come out.
check the linkage an the trans.
