i concur on that so i'm goin to say VIS, or JSP....
do we know anything about JSP?
they woke me up today...
know no info about their quality.
but they were iffy on making it, they can make it for us and claim OFF-ROAD use only, unless we solve something with them(because we all live in dif states)...which means forced Lexan...which is costly, or something about buying stock glass and having them install...or just having them do it, then some kind of place that can siwtch the glass and claim it legal
well i am going to get new glass anyway, so i'ld be down with them doing it but i also couldn't care-a-less about street leagle, but i am sure of you guys do, meridian cops don't car about stuff like that thankfully

i don't think a single cop will ask if your hatch is legal especially since they won't even know about it since very few of us will have it......

but i'm just havin a glass guy switch the glass
I am going to send PMs around as soon as the hoods are received, and get this moving...that is unless the C-One hoods aren't good, in that case we'll go w/ Import Fan or JSP im guessin since the price seems to have determined who we go w/
I'd rather have no glass. This gives us the option of installing plexiglass, or DOT approved glass.

I for one will have plexi glass, No sense in getting a CF hatch if you gonna put heavy glass back in.

No glass please Thanks you

I will return one day.
I'm in love for CF hatch........
CF hatch and plexi can be a fantastic couple!!!
but i think that plexi isn't legal in italy.....

Sthen Italy

I will return one day.
so is plexi better than lexan or is it the same thing, i read somwhere that lexan will turn yello from the sun and scratch really easy and its difficult to tint and doesn't look right when it is tinted. just wandering. i do want to be able to show my car too, not doing it so much for the weight savings but that would be nice

lol, i dunno about ANY of those comments...
go on Ebay and look up Sonoma and Lexan.
but buddy bought his rear window there, and it looked fine, it was also made tinted...looks like maybe 20%...i'd want 35% >tongue.gif>
but yea, it SHOULD be fine, i'd be more worried about the cost.

I could see it scratching, but im not doing the research on here just yet, as i am not doing this right away, i need to wait till i have $ to get lighter glass
i did a little research and found this
Pro Glass

Advantages of LEXAN® Windows
LEXAN® coated sheet is a two sided hard-coated polycarbonate material that offers excellent impact resistance, optical clarity and abrasion resistance. LEXAN coated sheet is ideal for many functional parts requiring exceptional toughness and surface hardness.

Safety considerations support polycarbonate over glass. Glass is a brittle material. LEXAN® has proven to be a much better impact absorbent substance. LEXAN polycarbonate sheet offers the highest impact strength of any transparent glazing product--250 times the impact strength of glass and 30 times that of acrylic.

Weight savings - Using LEXAN® carries a substantial weight savings over the use of ordinary glass. For example, a 1/4" thick square foot of LEXAN® weighs 1.56 lbs. in comparison to 3.2 lbs. of glass. Another consideration is that further weight savings can be obtained because a lesser thickness of LEXAN® may be used. (An 1/8" window may be used replacing a 3/16" thick glass application).

Customization - LEXAN® windows provide you the ability to customize more readily, as they provide an ease of alteration and transformation.

Ease of installation - LEXAN® windows are molded to OEM specifications and are shipped oversize. This eases installation in bodies of different manufacturers.

The Pro Glass Advantage
Pro Glass has the advantage of experience. Thousands have chosen Pro Glass Windows for their race cars. After 20 years, we are proud to continue our tradition of providing the highest quality windows to the racing industry.

Pro Glass uses the only best material available. General Electric LEXAN® coated sheets offer excellent impact and abrasion resistance.

Pro Glass offers the optimum advantage through its exclusive thermal forming manufacturing process. This assures you of an accurate and aerodynamic fit for your windows. Also, the optical clarity of a Pro Glass window is far superior to that of other manufacturers.

Pro Glass is the #1 manufacturer of preformed LEXAN® racing windows in the universe. We assist professionals with our quality products for drag racing, road racing, stock car racing, boat racing, and more.

Pro Glass goes that extra step by spraying their windows with a protective coating that assists in the reduction of scratching and damage during installation. This water based material is easily removed upon installation of the window.

Pro Glass windows are oversized. It means equidistant to the exact size of the window. This will allow a better fit to the vehicle body.

Pro Glass has the experience and expertise to execute custom windows for almost any vehicle. Our 20 plus years of experience has included custom windows for a diverse range of products.

Pro Glass sells only preformed windows, manufactured from mar resistant LEXAN®.

and i found this on a RX7 board

CF hatch and lexan discusion

The Downside: Lexan Glass scratches very easily. Eventually this is going to hinder your view out the back.

and i read several places that as long as you treat it like your paint it will last a long time.

so lexan all the way baby

but i would want it tinted at least 15% so hopefully it will look ok

if this gets off the ground, there's potentially 5 or 6 people interested in the hatch over at gt4oc.net
we have like 10 here for sure, we are waiting to see if the c-one hoods that ViS just finished are quality...
as soon as we know if they are or not, i am calling and figuring out down-payments and such, and this is starting
i can talk with somebody to know the delivvery cost to Italy?

Sthen Italy
you can talk with somebody, what?
i'll ask ViS >tongue.gif>

unless you are saying you already have called.
ok i emaild pro glass and they said they would be happy to do lexan glasses for us, they said they will need a factory glass for a template and i can get a price as soon as i find out how many people would want it and how thick

My RX8 2JZ Swap ThreadLink to PicsStatusLow.com,Store,Facebook
def. in >tongue.gif> price? or is it not available on the estimate yet.

the 1/4 doesnt have patience for a ST.... so we make them ST-T's so atleast we'll sound good going slow.
does the lexan get tinted, or is it tinted itself...
also a price? we might be better off getting them to order a new glass from toyota and going like that, but yea...

and i say thick enough to stay level w/ the hatch :-P unless they want to make a seal for it too(black plastic), then as thin as it can get w/o being highly weak
they have to know approx how many and how thick inorder to give us a price. i'll ask about tinting. and how thick does it need to be to be level w/ the hatch. and i'll ask about a seal so they can make it thinner. so how thick is the factory glass. i f i can know that i'll ask for an estimate for 10 glasses and for 15 glasses to see if there is a big price dif. since we may be able to get 15

and now that we may have those people from gt4oc we may be able to get a better price

My RX8 2JZ Swap ThreadLink to PicsStatusLow.com,Store,Facebook
sounds like a pain >tongue.gif>
i dont know how to get measurement of stock glass, have them give 2 estimates, 1 for 1" other for 1/4"
then we have a max + min idea
we can work on 5-10ppl(i doubt many will have the $ for this right away)
Then if it sounds good, we'll just have them do whatever is needed(order new glass and either replica, or thin and make seal)...

sounds easier than pryin out stock glass, or finding it elsewhere then sending to them
yeah thats true i'll ask, and any news on the actual hatch, anyone talked to vis

My RX8 2JZ Swap ThreadLink to PicsStatusLow.com,Store,Facebook
lol, we're waiting for the hood is all, as soon as hoods are received we are going through them, im hoping for 2more weeks >smile.gif>
the hod was fitted and it looks great (i'm getting that to btw), he said it fit perfect so is this going down or what, i would have gotten in on the hood GB if it would have kinown about it and it was a little later.

My RX8 2JZ Swap ThreadLink to PicsStatusLow.com,Store,Facebook
well his fit well, i dont want to have his good then others be crap
i'll be satisfied when 5-10ppl get theirs on w/ no problems >smile.gif> it's not THAT much longer guys, i'll call in TWO WEEKS and get the down payment info and other q's answered
SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEETTTTT

thanks
now if only i could find that damn list, i had a list of Q's for them when i called >tongue.gif>
i'll find it before i call...im just a lil unorganized
no wiper blade, an di am asking that along w/ the other Q's
ok i'm down with that, that gives me time to find out about the window anyways

that also means i can go ahead and order my hood
