QUOTE(lagos @ Jul 10, 2006 - 1:55 PM) i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.
ok i went in and talk to the guys about the car and everything

cam timing will totally be redone alot of math to figure this one out this is the biggest bug right now cause they where maxing out the cam gears to get it to ideal right adv at 25-30 when it should be a 10 so if that cant get fixed the 272 are coming out and the stocks are going in

on the pistons after the math was done and the computer corrected it with the number of the head cc etc
comp was 8.3:1 on 8.0:1 pistons before correstion factor it was 8.7:1 so they gave all the numbers to cp so that i get a piston that will give me an 8.5:1 compression

for the few days they drove around to tune the car he said it would break loose at 8 psi clear into 3rd thats not even getting on it so it reconformed that the motor would easily hit my goal for power

now just to sit and wait for the pistons reinstall them and then he is going to take his time on the cams to get this car up to there standards before turning it over to me for the break in period

i tryed they rub on the inside of the wheel well by the door that soild part on my 18x8 rims i also wanted a little more meat between the rim and the road it only rubs toward max turning angle but if i road cross it well i should just get 16's for that

yeah you're going to need a plentiful supply... Why not go with the E54 (I think) tranny from the mr-2? It's proven to handle 3sgte tuned power very well, also came with lsd I believe... Start looking around for one potentially

did the tranny go out even with all the work you did to it romas?
C160 Tranny? biggrin.gif 6 Speed 7A-GTE. I like the sound of that for some reason...
whats the tranny used on the 20v black top the 6 speed you should get one of those
OK , I'm not sure if I really understand what is your problem but here the way I go ;

- 4age crank gear (I think they are all the same)

-7afe oil pump and tensionner

- 944 belt

- catcams 256" in 8.5mm lift and 243" ex. 8.0mm lift

Since I don't have the chance to run and tune the car for a long time I not sure if I use the right way to set up the cam/camgears. I started with this :

I hear they're not that much more durable than the other C-series trannies.

Nik, what about an E51 or E58?

New Toyota project coming soon...

Lol, yea it did, even with all the efford what i put using Ceramic synchros, and all the promises the guy who reworked my tranny gave about these synchros - it all started to went down after first 600 miles.... but still - 3 gear synchro is the one who died first, second one lasted longer... But im still thinking what this happend not cuz of the power and etc - but cuz of useing a short shift (hand moves faster then the leg, and this leaves to switching the gear with half way pressed clutch...)

But still - trany is not compleatly dead, still drivible - but to switch gears - its the acurate job now - or you will hear the GRRRRRRRshhhht sound of the angry trany biggrin.gif

Nik, GZE trany is the way to go IMHO... only problem would be to solve the Clutch/Flywheel stuff....

doggy doubble clutching it removes the need for synchros, back in the 30's trannys didnt have synchros so you had to put it in nutral, then let of the clutch, push the clutch back in and move it into gear, which is where they get the name doubble clutching you use the clutch twice

I know this process till death... till bare bones... Cuz i learned driving Trucks, and these trucks what i had course - aint had synchros......

I would love to see how fast you could switch the gear with double clutching... Its not the easy way too...

hmm i wonder i will have to try that tomorrow and see how fast i can do that, and that is another thing that makes the fast and the furious retarted, they said that in a drag race that you should doubble clutch, in 10 seconds i couldnt shift twice even probally

That would be a rather large problem... The E51/E58 trans use a different flywheel (224mm) and those flywheels are ONLY available for the 8 bolt crank 4AG. You'll need some sort of custom flywheel if you chose to run that tranny, along with custom mounts, custom axles, a clutch kit, and what not.

Yep, good point Bee. I totally wasn't thinking and forgot about Nik's 7A bottom end with the six bolt flywheel.

New Toyota project coming soon...
