I think alot of ppl are just bitter cuz they drive like asses and get pulled over. Granted, I've been harrassed a couple times and yes there are some @$$holes with badges but to stereotype them all, thats ignorant.

I don't stereotype, it just so happens that most of them in Charlotte are asses.

hahah, i don't have a license right now, but I still gotta drive. I live by myself and have no one to take me to work. Its been this way for 6 months, and i got another 6 months to go. So i drive good, always have. Let me share a story with you: I was at macdonalds parking lot talking to my girlfriend at the time who was a blonde. Im half hawaiian half spanish, so I have dark hair. A cop drives by, stops and asks her if shes ok. She walked up to him to get his name for me and tells him shes ok, and I filed a harrasment report the next day. No biggie, until he gets his review and it goes against him. Next story, Im at djs smoke shop in mesa, its a head shop where they sell pipes and bongs. Im there because at the time I smoked those clove cigarettes djarums, and thats one of the few places that sell them. 2 cops drive up on bikes, and start harassing me about a smoked license cover on my car. The guy says he will write me a fix it ticket unless he can run me for warrants. I tell him go ahead, while Im memorising his name. I tell him I work for the FAA and I dont do drugs. He runs my name, I come out clean and I filed a harrassament complain against him the next day. Unfortuneatley for him the girl I was with as a reporter for a weekly magazine called New Times, which is the hip like whats going on in town weekly mag. She writes up a first hand story, and he gets reprimanded. Im not a gang banger, don't look or dress like one. It just gets old after awile. Thats why I hate cops.

K, I don't like cops at all. I get pulled over for the most ridiculous things ever. The other day while I was coming out of Wendy's, I got pulled over because they got a report that a "car of my description" took off with something from Publix in the same shopping center.

I get pulled over a lot, but I usually get let off. *sigh*

and ones that have i think wanted to pull me over never bother to turn down and streets w/ houses on it
(they are oncoming and slow down to turn around(do not turn on lights) and i duck in a development and park in a driveway)

edit: but the next time a cop pull sme over they're going to take my tint, and i HATE them for that.

I got busted by an off duty biotch. He thought he was being a hardass. I wasnt speeding, i didnt even own the celi at the time. I was driving home from track and he saw my left tire cross the white line into the median. I must have been changing the radio or something. Anyhow, he pulled me over, was out of uniform, and wrote me a ****ing ticket. This was a 30 ft. wide grass median mind you. I went to court to fight it and he blatantly lied. Who was the judge going to believe?

Well, normally I'd pass a thread like this up... but I'll post my 2 cents.

I'm a 19 year old 911 operator, and I'm considering becoming a police officer once I'm old enough. My dad's a cop, just like my grandfather was, and I have two aunts who are cops.

That being said...are all cops assholes? No, but all cops can be an asshole at times in any given situation. Trust me, I sit for 8 hours each day and have to put up with anywhere from 15-80 different officers depending on which frequency I work.

Here's how I look at. Each day I answer an average of 100 phone calls give or take. I'd say about 85% are police related and not medical/fire. I only have to deal with these people for a matter of minutes, and I get sick of it.

So you get stopped for speeding? Is the cop an asshole b/c he's doing his job? No. Is the cop an asshole for giving you a ticket? No. Are you an asshole for b*tching about it? No. That's natural. You were breaking the law... his job is to enforce it. Going on that logic, are you going to b*tch about the Firefighter who put out the fire at your neighbor's house and saved your own?

I couldn't tell you how many innocent people are hurt or killed b/c someone was speeding and lost control, couldn't stop, or whatever... Now what's a police officer supposed to do? He does his job... who knows, maybe getting pulled over saved your own live and you'll never know it. Maybe it didn't.

As far as b*tching about and sterotyping all cops... nobody should do that. Yes, they may piss you off, but you know what? Someone's breaking into your house... someone's kidnapped someone close to you... you're in an accident...someone raped your wife/sister/girlfriend/mother...someone has you at gunpoint or attacks you with a weapon... u know what? While everyone is running away or hiding, they'll be there for you, and they don't care what you've done in the past, what you look like, or the fact that you complain about them and say horrible things in forums like this.

Go ahead, bad mouth the police department. Doesn't matter. One day you'll need a police officer for something... and you won't be calling him an asshole when he's there to help you.

As far as being stopped b/c you fit a description? Believe it or not, people such as you, when something happens, can only give general descriptions. Here's what happens: Someone does something, say a car is broken into and stolen... witness calls in and the only description they can provide me with is: A small 2 door silver car that took off towards X direction with a wm driver. Well, it just so happens that an officer is right there in that area, looks up, and wham... there is a car fitting that description. So he stops it and asks the driver a few ?'s. Any harm done? No... so you were inconvienenced for a few minutes? What if it was your car and you found out that seconds after being stolen, the veh passed a cop, and the cop was just given a warning to be on the look out? You'd be pissed.

I know this is long but I'll wrap it up. It's just irks me when people will bad mouth all cops b/c they had a bad experience(s) w/a cop(s). They say cops are asses, idiots, and the scum of the earth. Well, if that's the way you feel, then don't ever call for help when you need it then b/c obviosly you don't want it.

Fact is, in every occupation there are going to be assholes. Does that make everyone an asshole? No. If you go out to eat and you get bad service does that mean that all servers are assholes and you should treat them as such? No. Act as a human being and you'll be treated like one.

Kind of funny how it works... if you're an asshole to people, people tend to be an asshole back.

Which, by the way, is one perk of my job. I get to be an asshole to those few cops that are just grumpy assholes. People like that are assholes to everybody... co-workers included.

DIDNT get pulled over and got a ticket... he saw my car at a house next door to the drunk driver and said i was doin 48 in a 30 and yeah BULL****.. my car does 0-48 in 2.2 right on a Harley's ass >> That's why I hate them

People aren't complaining about cops in general, we're just giving reasons why we don't like cops. I get messed with all the time because I have tan skin and cops are constantly pulling hispanics over in Charlotte because a lot of them are an easy ticket. Last time I heard the quota system was also illegal, but I can tell you right now if this area doesn't have one then they need to catch the little SOB that tried to bust down my backdoor and was stupid enough to leave the can of soda he had next to the door (which the cops never bothered with taking), I got lucky because he couldn't break through the door, but the place across the street, the BP next door and the clothing shop next to it wasn't. Instead of those officers looking for something useful and stopping the crime they let a lumber yard here smuggle cocaine and don't do s***, but they won't think twice about pulling me so it looks like he's actually accomplishing something and people won't complain.

as a criminal justice major (almost a senior) i see a lack of intellegence by bashing cops and saying OH WHY CANT THEY BE DEALING WITH MORE SERIOUS CRIMES.

you are clearly uninformed. my local law agency (la crosse pd) has 92 sworn officers. there are maybe 6-7 people on the road at a time (road officers) generally three shifts a day which adds up to around just about 20ish police officers on the road. where are these other 70 officers? hmmmm. maybe investigating bigger crimes? you got it. road officers are there to enforce road laws, etc.

in more metropolitan areas such as chicago, twin cities, etc. they arent as likely to stop you for speeding because they are tight on budget and not enough officers are employed to handle such a big city. my friend was going 70 in a 55 and got passed by a cop w/o emergency lights on.

i have a teacher that was a cop for 9 years and he is serioiusly one of the nicest/coolest guys you could ever meet. a lot of people have to put on their cop face when they are on duty. some of the stories he has though, youd think cops were the coolest people around. he told us about how hed put ky jelly on fellow officers windows and stuff. i deal with officers where i work and since they are not in that game face mode they are very nice. granted, some are complete rocks but you'll have that in ANY profession. one time a cop walked up to me and goes: so wheres my donut?!?... i just said to him.... wheres mine? haha.

just because you get pulled over for your tan skin or w/e is bs. some people are racist but minorities being pulled over is inevitable. because of their unequal place in society they tend to not have as much money. they are the ones who tend to drive the cars with broken mufflers, bad taillights, etc. this is asking to get pulled over and messed with. and once you are pulled overs cop can sense fear very easily... fear often represents guilt.

ive never had a problem with being pulled over once i stopped driving like an idiot.

i really agree with cupcrazy. there are some things i used to dislike about cops but the older i get the more i appreciate them.

This was at a traffic stop where the only people being pulled over are hispanic. It wasn't the cars because a nice RX-7, my car and a Mustang GT vert were all pulled, the only bad car pulled was this lady on her way to work driving an early 90's Cutlass and it was just dirty from the pollen. I don't know why I got pulled but when every person sitting on the side of the road are hispanic or look hispanic sitting down the road from a hispanic neighborhood I put 2 and 2 together and realize they are looking to give an easy ticket. I sat there for at least a half hour and most of that time they just let people pass through without looking at their license unless they were hispanic. You can say i'm just complaining because of racism or the car I drive, but when I can go into a courtroom and tell the judge that the officer pulled me because I was somehow speeding at a stoplight in a nice bright ticket me yellow Lancer and the officer sitting beside me cannot defend himself because he has no proof other than the ticket he wrote then you tell me who's at fault. Cops make just as many mistakes as everyone else, here's an example, Randy Braswell a state trooper on motorcycle patrol spends his off time racing his Cavalier Z24 in south Charlotte, but pulls me over and tickets me for doing 63 in a 55, the kicker is he pulled me in my own driveway and my dad was right in front of me doing the same speed. The thing is the state makes money off our mistakes and it will do anything to exploit them, most people feel they do not have what it takes to fight the system so the system will milk them for what they have and then wonder why they are sitting in a welfare office or crowding unemployment offices trying to find a job they can walk too, but i've done it enough times I could be a lawyer, I have lost my license but it took those SOB's 14 tickets and 4 years to get it from me and i'll have it back next month, unfortunatly it will cost me a few hundred, but as long as they get their money they don't care. I am not afraid to admit when I did wrong, I got nailed pretty hard when I wrecked my Mustang but I was doing something stupid that as a 17 year old kid I shouldn't have been doing so I deserved it, I know when I deserve a ticket and I know when i'm being f***** around with.

thats another thing that bothers me... is this race card crap. im getting really sick of it. i find myself being "overly" nice to people of color to avoid being accused of something i am not. did you think maybe they were looking for a latino/mexican suspect? maybe they are in a heavy-hispanic area. maybe you are thinking that everyone is hispanic looking and that white people are being let away.

heres the other problem with what you are saying "14 tickets and 4 years to get it from me" i believe that if idiot drivers like you werent given tickets in your driveway you'd probably kill someone driving. should it really take 14 offenses for you to lose your license? it should take three. and if three were the standard im sure they wouldnt give your so-called "driveway" ticket. lay off the gas pedal and quit messing around... you'll eventually understand.

14 in 4 with 1 wreck, I race every weekend and never in my life have I been "charged" for anything over a, 9 over. You see it's not a race thing like you're talking about, see you said white people being let away, it's not just whites it was everyone that did not have a reddish color skin. There are a lot of illegal aliens in this area, illegal aliens don't have real drivers licenses so they make for easy tickets. You need to learn that this world revolves around money whether anyone likes it or not, it cost money for this states politicians to build a new by-pass so they don't have to see the crap neighborhoods when they go to their nice mansion on Lake Norman or where ever, if you've read about North Carolina we have a lot of corruption in our capital. I know what goes on here because I run a business that these "cops" just happen to go to. You see you can think I b**** because i'm from some poor community or something, but the thing is I run my own business, I have two garages to work with, that mansion in my profile isn't mine but I am allowed there when I please (it's a business partners'), I come from both sides of the tracks and have seen the BS that goes on in the courthouse and around Charlotte. You seem to be the type that thinks police corruption is only in movies and books, here's an update, corruption is around and always will be, but the normal person can't prove it without it being on tape with 500 witnesses.

Dude, you're still a junior in college i've already served in the Corps as a combat engineer and run my own business why do you think I can post pretty much when I want (I sell computers), and I agree illegal aliens should be sent back but instead of putting them in a squad car they give them a ticket and I see that every time im in court fighting some BS ticket there are a few dozen of them sitting there for false ID tickets. Look at Time magazine about 6 months ago there was this big spread on the Tyson plant here and instead of sending the illegals they busted back they just arrested the plant manager, oh yeah that solved our problem. I would like to see you stay in Charlotte for more than a month and not get pulled, ask most people from here 9/10 times will someone have been pulled. I've kept pretty quiet about the cops suck thing, but when you come from a town with 92 cops and bash us, we have that many cops on vacation right now, I agree with you that not all cops are bad, but when you have a large police department and a state that is already known for corrupt politicians it becomes a money issue and how much of it can they pry from us through bogus speeding tickets, they went so far as to set up speed cameras every quarter mile because the more tickets the more revenue, go to Wingate sometime it's where Jesse Helms lives, the rest of the area looks like crap, but Jesse just built a 5 million dollar museum for himself in a town with a population of about 1,500, and used tax payer money to fund a private university.

I can agree & disagree with both of you. Its always a money issue, why do you think the speed limit is so low? But also, if you break the law, do not bitch about being caught. If you actively engage in illegal racing, or just driving like an ass, dont be surprised when your pulled over. And if all your friends are hispanic, then so what? You'd be pulled over just like a bunch of white kids driving like asses. My fatger got rear-ended by someone from a different country visiting the US and driving without a license. He rear-ended my father (in a new 350z mind you) and the cop didnt even give him a ticket. The guy has no license, isnt a citizen and he drives off from an accident? That right there is BS.

Also, illegal immigrants, if they werent here, the economy would be hurting BAD. The border patrol is nothing but there for show.

There is nothing wrong with illegal aliens. majority of there are hard working people who come to this country to further their life and if you were in their position you do the samething to. Immagrant workers are some of the hardest working people. i also was an illegal alien at one point of my life
