just wonder what you all thougth...I had them on my celica, but then sold the celica...I think on a complete show car neons are sweet, but other then that soooo rice...unless there on a supra or rx7 or something that can hold its own....btw i didn't know if this was an exterior topic or electrical topic post...mods can put it where it needs to be

I don't think underbody neons are rice all the time. As long as they fit the car in a way so that it's natural for them to be there. Say you use 20 000$ or more to fix up your Celica inside and outside(visual mods, not performance). Then top this off with underbody and interior neon. Now how is that rice?

On the other hand, if you just slap on some neon and think you are cool, then yes. Rice.

They have to be an accent to modifications, not a mod in and of themselves. Example -- contrast with a stellar paint job or show off just how low she'll go.

There are times when the neons can look great. Ever seen a car done in jet black, everything jet black except minimal instrument lighting in red? Tailights smoked, marker lights shaved, pop-up headlights. This RX-7 was about 1.5 inches off the ground, black wheels, black tint, looked like it was made out of shadow. It had underbody lights/neons, but not bright, just enough to get that menacing glow that defined its edges. Car was probably the most intimidating piece of machinery this side of a mining truck I've ever seen.

yep, there rice but if you do a real good install job on then (hide the bulbs to that only the reflection on the ground is visable, and keep it a solid color, non of that pulsing, or strobe stuff. not to mention only one color, no rambows.) it will be more cool then rice.

but that is just my opinion (sorry if it affends any one)

I am getting a sponsor deal on colorstorm 10 stick system from street fx. I am getting more than 60% off, but can only buy 1 kit as per contract. I agree as long as they are solid in color and non pulsating it looks better, however because my kit wil have the ability to change color, I will have it change color every day.

I like neons, but I dont want them on my car. I just want a nice clean ride. And shogun, 1 question. When I get my car running 13s in 1/4 mile w/ my bodykit? I'm really not all about speed but I'm for show and now days your car has to be quick and look good. I'm aiming for 250whp.

Its all in the eye of the beholder; I think rice is action not the car itself.

Playr, the Supra Headlight conversion is sweet.

I think it depends on your car. If you have a big aluminum spoiler, steelies with no covers and a coffee can muffler than neons are rice.

If you do up your exterior pretty nice then it's okay. If you have rims, lowered a bit etc, and of course like others said, install the neons right so you can't see the bulbs, then it's actually pretty sweet.

i actually really disagree with this... how is an intake, rice? exhaust isn't rice unless it's cheap crap you can buy from like walmart, and body kits? some of them are rice, but if you've got something under the hood to back up the looks of your car, i don't think it's rice at all. but that's my opinion, just thought i'd add my 2 cents...

after all these years you are all still stuck on whats rice and what isn't. look up rice in a dictionary, pretty sure undercar neons aren't listed there. bottom line, rice in regards to imports is completely subjective, there is no clear cut definition on what is or what is not rice. so as long as you think it looks good what does it matter

ps, oli that was a stupid generalization. some intakes add power, some exhausts add power, some bodykits add downforce. the degree to which they do their intended function varies greatly from application to application so whats your point?

neons are rice if they are on a civic or some gay car like that. and intakes do alittle, just better air flow if u have an exhaust, cat back, not muffler.....

yes, because you are claiming a 15hp gain with no dyno data to back it up (aka rice)

what is wrong with everyone and thinking civics are bad cars. civics are actually REALLY good cars and have a lot of potential. sure there's the people that "rice" out civics and do a VERY crappy job of it, but there's also a LOT of people that do really nice work to civics, and make them go quickly. civics have about as much potential as any other 4 cylinder (economy) car out there.. give them a break already, and i guess when you say civics are gay, you're meaning the mods done to them, or the person doing them, because civics are pretty freakin awesome when they're done correctly.
