The only thing I have ever said about my engine was that is was an RC. I have never said it was better than anyone elses. I only defend it when People say its a regular 185, which is not.

It makes a few more ponies than a normal 185.

I have something for you to try. If my car is the same as a normal 185 Get an RC AFM,ecu, and intercooler see if you can get everything to work on your car.

The AFM is larger Allowing more air to be regulated.

I've only said the truth the is an RC, I know its not much different. But it also is not a 185.

Larger allowing more air to be regulated, more fuel to be sent to the engine by the ecu.

This is one of the reasons it has more horsepower, the intercooler is the other reason.

Everything else is just the same as the ST185, except a kick ass timing belt cooler.

any higher hp specs that you find, are purely from the fact that the car has better cooling the a normal alltrac and therfore runs a few more pounds of boost.

atsracing recently did a dyno with and without the restriction of an afm on a 300hp mr2 (i think thats the hp it had). they found that with out the restricion of the afm, the car made 3hp more. 3hp is considered to be one of those things you could just blame on a bad dny run, so it was concluded that the stock afm doesnt restrict any power. so a larger one wouldnt help you either.

you and i had a little mini 4th gear race, remember? your car was at 15.5psi, full 3in exhaust, lighter flywheel , and no drag from AC or PS. mine was at 13-14psi, stocky flywheel, 3in dowpipe, a damaged mid pipe that is about 2in in diamiter, working PS and AC connected. during the mini race, we were dead even, untill you started to inch away from me little by little. seeing as how your car had a lot more mods , i think its safe to say that it makes the same power as a normal st185.

i guess to really know for sure, you should try to hit a dnyo while you are still on the stock turbo and see how it compares to every other swap.

Take your car to the track, see if you can put down a 13.9@ 12 psi.

why has this turned into a "differences between RC and a stock 185" ?

the fact is, the RC is faster/quicker/has a few more goodies/better mapping/ect than a stock 185. I'm not saying it will blow a 185 out of the water, but it is what it is advertised as.

I think if most people had a choice of an RC clip or a stock 185 clip, the RC would be taken 9 out of 10 times.

back on topic, what happens in May is what is important. What Jeff has is going to bring to the meet is what is important. That's it.

dood, im really not trying to judge you or to start any beef. just saying that from what i saw, your car was very fast, and your motor ran well, but it wasnt really that much faster then my car or the other swaps i have been in. im not saying your car is slow, im just saying that i dont think the "RC" part adds as much as you keep saying.

if i went to a track, i would probably suck ass. ive never been at a track before in my life and my tires do nothing but spin in 1st and 2nd. lol not to mention that my motor will probably die any day now

i dont know if there will be another philly meet (at least one started by me) this year. my motor seems to have delevoped some type of rod knock and will probably pop soon. so the plan is to spend all summer taking her out and doing a full rebuild. if its still running tho, ill try to set another one up if you guys want to come down again.
