ride along with a cop for a day. your outlook will be changed drastically. 99% of the time when that chirping tire is heard the police are fishing for something better. drunk people typically have this type of erratic driving behavior which is the reason they pull you over. i don't know about you, but stopping a drunk driver IS stopping an actual crime. its called preventing a manslaughter which is a wee more important than your friend, who if was seriously injured would have went to a hospital. this was probably the reason they were put on the back burner. sure an assault is a crime to look into, but there could have been fatality accidents with multiple injured, domestic disturbances, etc, etc, i could list things for days that take HOURS upon HOURS to clear and take priority over an assault.

it seems cops are always there when you don't need them, and never there when you do. they'd rather be pulling people over and giving them tickets then trying to stop any actual crimes because that's how they make their money. take, for instance, when 2 of my friends were walking home. they passed a group of about 4-5 mexican guys. on of the guys says something, one of my friends says something back which apparently offended him, he turns around and punches my friend in the face. my other friend happened to have big stick in his hand which he had picked up, was about to hit the guy with it, when the rest of the mexican guys pull out knives. he backs off, and my other friend just gets punched in the face several times more. he never fights back, and they end up just walking away. they get home a few minutes later, call the cops, they say they'll send someone and it takes 4 hours for the cop to show up!!! by then, the other group of guys was long gone.... yet if a cop hears a tire chirp even a little, they're there in a few seconds to write you a nice ticket... funny how that works.
