For the past year ive HATED driving my car at night especially if it was raining. I get terrified of driving and start freaking out because i get visions of getitng in a horrible accident but dont have them when I drive my dads solara. So im talking with my parents to see if maybe I can get my G35 sooner and if they'd co-sign and they said its possible but theyd like me to try glasses for driving first. lol. which is understandable and maybe ill feel a bit safer if I can see the lines of the road. My dad however is against me getting a Nissan. Tells me if I want a more luxury car then go for Lexus and I would agree if I wasnt madly in love with the G35 but he is my mechanic so I will have to take his opinion into consideration. Sorry guys and gals but the car wont be getting rid of or parted out. It will become the back up car for when my car, my bros car or dads car is under the knife for something or other.

Infinity/Nissan isnt bad. well thats what most say.. We have bad luck with Nissan [200SX and 96 Pick up] LOL

Go with Lexus. I drove an ES350 and wow.. that is a beast!

it would def help to see the road... i wear glasses but dont wear them normally because my vision isnt too bad... but rain/night/blurring from rain would def be why ur freaking out and feel unsafe without ur glasses... i wear mine all the time when i drive, to see signs and idiot drivers

Why do you feel unsafe in the celica? I dont see how going from FWD in bad weather to RWD will make you feel safer...

I dont know why. Just in the past year I get freaked out and start not being able to breath if im driving in the rain or at night in general. It was pouring this week and was driving my dads car and I had no problem. I guess I just trust a newer car over an older one. My parents asked if it would help if I got my new engine soon but I dont think im afraid of breaking down or anything. Im afraid of crashing. I have two fears in my life 1. Car accident and 2. being kidnapped

but no I could understand why it'd be scary driving at night especially in the rain... sometimes its gets really bad. >_< but I dont see how gettin a new car would make ya feel safer, but ya know whatever makes ya feel better, right?

I dont know something about the celica doesnt feel right ..im just creeped out by the car. Yeah I hate driving in the rain and should be used to it but I try to keep off freeways in general cuz i dont have the patience for the freeway when its going under 60 mph and no one else can drive in the rain either here! :-)

I just dont feel comfortable in that car anymore :-( i really think its cuz its an older car.

a RWD car will do worse in the rain then a fwd one.

if you have problems with your eye sight, then i don't think a brand new luxury car will help cure that.

1. Who ever tells you nissan quality sucks....theyre wrong....nissans have turned their crap around since carlos ghosn took over. from 2002 and up nissan quality has dramatically risen. I beat on my Z day to day and no problems to complain about.

2. going to a celica to a G35 you will probably kill or really hurt you/your car in the rain.. Even with tcs/vdc the rear end can still get out on you in the rain.....I have read numberous horror stories of people who dont know how control a rwd and they end up in a ditch or a median.

trust me ...unless your celica is spewing bolts out the muffler...or catches fire...you are very safe.....if you really want to feel safe in the rain...buy a fwd/awd

unless you a experienced. rwd will hurt you in the rain

Very true...my 95 Camaro friggin' sucked massive ones in the rain. I hit a guard rail once, and had to replace the whole doghouse.

Hell no with FWD again. Im not putting up with my dad saying he wont do anything to my car cuz its FWD. This time its going ot be RWD.

I think you guys are missing hte point - its not my eye sight or any of that its I DONT FEEL SAFE IN THE CELICA CUZ ITS OLD. lol. I can see fine in any other car

dont take this the wrong way but it just seems like you want a new car.

there are some very great fwd....camry/maxima.....if buy a new car who cares if your dad works on it ..its under warranty...take it to the damn dealer....if you are worried about safety why are you modding cars?

i strongly suggest an awd....suby wrx/sti(if u can afford), evo, g35x(sedan)...audi?

Your alignment might be off causing your car to feel strange in the rain. When I drove it it felt fine though.

Does your dad's Solara have HID headlights? I bet that the headlights, combined with the tires, are biggest difference between the two cars while driving at night.

I fail to really see the appeal of a G35 myself, but I think Nissans are great cars. Both of the ones I've had have been excellent. I wouldn't want to be in debt at this point in my life though just for another car.

Yeah I want a new car and id probably feel 100 times safer in a new car. The celica has 230k miles on it...thats a lot of miles and yeah its been driven hard but its been well maintained but it still scares the crap outta me.

i cant tell you how much better the car feels in the rain with the michelin pilot sport a/s i bought a couple months ago.
as far as lighting, i find the celica somewhat lacks there, unless you aim the lights up higher than they should be.

I think everyones misunderstanding. When I have a fear in my head it will consume me. Ive been afraid of being kidnapped since I was little that I would sit there and cry about it in the middle of the night. once I have that fear its set.

I have brand new tires. So those are good. yes it needs an alignment tho so my dads going to pay for that sometime in the next week or so. The lights are fine when its dry but those damn orange street lights make it so i cant see the road at all as well as when its wet i cant seem to find the lines.
