If you mean hp/(overall vehical weight) ratio, you are incorrect.

If you mean that the added weight of the 2jz threw off the F/R balance so that handling will be negatively effected in a material way, I disagree. This ride would be an absolute blast.

I am going to do an LS2 S2000 - just haven't found the right car yet. The LS2 is better than the 2jz for reliability (opinion), torque, gas milage, and weight purposes.

LS2 s2000...whoa id rock that...imagine the torque...mmm LS swapped anything is usually pretty sweet.

Sometimes we live to beat the odds.-Ryanaim: rkgreen04
im not that surpised with this. the supra is the same style platform as the s2k.....yeah props for the work, but still just another 2jz

um... the ls2 does not have better reliability over the 2jz... This is true when it comes to swapping an ls in place of the rotory in an rx-7, but the 2jz might just be one of the best motors ever designed, and every time you put a pushrod in block camshaft v8 in place of an divine 2jz, god kills a kitten. laugh.gif

Also the 6cyl turbo 2jz is waaaaay heavier than a stock 4cyl na s2 motor. it for sure has thrown off the perfect weight balance of an s2. so would an ls, does'nt matter that its aluminum. I would just stroke the honda motor then turbo the crap out of it!
less power, but more balance. Just what my plan of attack would be. But this guy deserves major props because that is siiiiihiiick! godly does not even begin to describe that thing. if i tried to race that thing and heard a 2jz roar up and blow by me, I would be very confused... And most likely spend the remainder of my life thinking about what happened in a mental institution kindasad.gif

You will note that my comment indicated "opinion". However, if we were comparing a 400hp LS2 vs. a 400hp (BPU) 2jz, I hasten to add that my opinion is more grounded in fact that yours.

People continually give the 2jz more props than it deserves - particularly when it comes to reliability for modded ones. Talk to a group of hard core Mark IV Supra guys and they will tell you that maintenance (not the preventative kind) is common on these motors once they have been modified.

Having said all that, they are both great motors and I concur that the guys that put this machine together deserve major props.

As for weight balance and such, I will give you a full report when my car is complete. wink.gif

dropping a 2jz in a fd rx7 too woot.gif

"this is some sick ****"

couldnt have said it better myself

I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra scary to me, because there's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside.
Wutsup with people swappn 2JZ's now? I saw a 240SX with a 2JZ swap in the other post? My friend's boyfriend has an 86 Corolla with a 2JZ swap. Now this S2000? I think we should all go 2JZ. What yall say? Huh? tongue.gif
I like the LS Rx7s and Miatas..

2JZ may be a great engine.. but its all preference.. its not always the BEST for every platform

You sir, read my mind. EXACTLY What I was thinking. Could this be the dawn of a new era and the LSx/RX7 swap a thing of the past now???? biggrin.gif
i dont know much about engines.....but where did this engien originally come from? like waht car?
i see it has a toyota emblem......supra?

ugh replacing the amazing 13b in a 3rd gen is ****ing stupid and an insult to all rotary lovers... every time i look at an ls1 in a rx7 i get sick... it should stay in the domestic **** it came in
ls1 is a great motor, and rotary isn't the most reliable, but i would do everything i could to keep the 13b

Its the difference between $5400 for a LS2 Crate motor and $13,500 for a LS7 (last time I checked three months ago). The LS2 will have greater aftermarket support. Further, 400 hp stock is enough power anyway in a S2000. This will be my daily (summer) driver. My goal is a car that looks completely stock (except for wheels), retains the handling of the S2000, and has real TORQUE.

I hate the 13b with a passion... If you have ever had to deal with one, then you understand what a pos it is. One of my freinds literally changed the writing for the check engine light to say "change engine light" laugh.gif The ls1 swap in an fd rx-7, actually yeilds better f-r weight disribution than with the stock turbo 13b! Dont beleive me? Do some research on it. The ls swap into the rx-7 is really the only cross manufacturer swap that i approve of. I dont think it is worth it to swap a 2jz into an s2k. Like I said, I would rather go with a stroker f20c and turbo the sh*t out of it. Does not change the fact that 2jz's are godly, and this car is crazy! I am a loyal subject of the ls series engine, but the only cars it belongs in are general motors products, and rx-7's.
I cant beleive you are trying to tell me that you honestly think you have a better understanding of the 2jz and ls2 than i do.. Think whatever makes you feel good inside. When you modify any engine, you lose reliability. If you plan on modifying that ls2, say goodbye to better reliability over the 2jz. Stock for stock the 2jz is more relaible. Of course a 400hp na v8 is going to have better reliability then a 400hp turbo 6cyl. What does reliability mean if its not your daily driver anyway? nothing. But anyway, your naive if you think you will obtain the same weight disrtibution as stock in an s2k. and foolish if you think you will get better weight dist than this guys 2jz s2k. The ls2 is literally twice the size of a 2jz! It may be stupid fast in a straight line, but people will laugh at you on a road course

Your comments are annoying. When you are going to criticize and call me names, please get your facts straight. The weight of an LS2 with all accessories is about 500 lbs. The weight of a 2jz approaches 600 lbs.

With the LS2 you can on the cheap build yourself a "baby LS7" now. The new 6.2L L92 motor has phenomenal heads that are ever so slightly detuned LS7 heads, but retail for $700 a set fully set up. Add in a L76 intake manifold (the car version, truck version won't work in cars due to size) for $450 that includes fuel rails, injectors, and a TB, and a cam of choice. Hello 450-500 HP AT THE WHEELS in a completely driveable setup.

Oh yeah, on the original topic, that S2K..........I'd hit it without blinking an eye.

jgreening makes excellent points. You need to let go of your biases.

I've seen countless Supras on two bars or more of boost popping hoses left and right trying to get the kind of numbers a slightly modified LS series engine can attain comfortably.

There's rarely anything reliable about forced induction, esepcially when you start turning up the boost.

Anyways, these guys aren't your enemies. Anyone who can appreciate a 2JZ and a Smallblock Chevy is by far more enlightened than most of the ricers or track monkies out there. Take their opinions with an open ear.
