not so sure that i would trust an ebay header, if it doesnt fit its a pain in the ass to send back if you even can send it back and to top it off you have to have some custom work done to even make the pipes long enough on most of the headers on ebay.

Nice find!

Maybe I'll get that one too, I've been looking for a CAI to be set up this summer.

i have that header on my car, but i paid $70+$30 shipping. for me its a direct fit, for you guys follow the how-to. i feel like i gained ALOT of topend, lost a little lowend, but it totally changed the way the engines powerband feels. really screams from 3000 to 6000 now, for me. mine really is stainless, so i wrapped it and that helped to keep from cooking my hood and changed its sound a little, got the car to closed loop a little faster, gets the cat going a little quicker, and feels like it made a small difference in how the engine responds once its hot. thats probably due to a lower intake temp because i took alot of heat out of the engine bay.

nope....i jacked it up and took a little bit of the wheel well plastic out...just peeled it out a litte and theres a black air box that you have to take out too...once that is out and the air box under the hood is out you cut the pipe and stick the straight end with the slight curve up into the engine bay from underneath and then put the filter on...not really that difficult

I actually did it I guess the wrong way and have the long end in the engine bay and the short end sticking into the fender.

I bought a cold air intake for the 7afe celica off eBay and it didnt fit at all even after cutting it, now i have this weird set up where my filter is a little less than 2" from my headers, not good at all, SRI would have been a better choice...

Your set up looks hot tho, all you did was get a 90-93 accord intake and cut it? What is that third pic?

Thanks
a CAI from chromeintakes, POS
I just followed his link up there to order one. I'll put up pics when I finish it.
95st, you say you had to remove the wheel well plastic and you also say you bent it back. Did you just bend it or did you have to actually remove some plastic from the well permanently to get this to fit?

Nice work btw! smile.gif

good to know Redline. I was looking at those ChromeIntakes ones on ebay also. Sorry to hear it didn't work. : \

Dunno how much it'll help, but why dont you get a heat shield from ebay to put on it the way it is? If I get my accord CAI soon and am able to fit it correctly I have a weapon R secret weapon (i think??) SRI I'll be selling.

Its really not worth it, a heat shield would just be putting more money into a lost cause, you would have to see it to believe it... id much rather do this accord intake than fuss with chromeintakes ripoff,

Lemme know how the accord set up goes, pics and stuff thx
I ordered one as well. Shipping to Canada jacks the price a bit, but $50 cdn is still damn good, and it will give me something to do when the weather clears up. smile.gif
just double checking with ya, im probably going to get the same one you got...but anyway, the one you got from eautosource has 2.5" piping and fit with no problems. thanks

The third pic is the filter that comes out right next to the grill in my bumper...i can't explain how perfect it worked out...n it made such a difference...DO NOT get the "chromeintakes" off ebay...the one i got i had to cut once but if you cut it in the right spot it works out perfect...type in 1993 honda accord intake...and then go from there..when you say your filter is like 2" from you headers then you must be doing somethin wrong or got the complete wrong pipe...mine is about 2 feet away from my headers...your best bet is to take the extra time and stick it down where your orignal factory intake is...it works the best...you cut the pipe so you have an "S" shape and another pip thats like an 80 Degree angle...the s pipe goes onto the throtle body an the other one goes straight down along side the fender...shouldnt be too hard.

absoutly not..i only had to peel it back to get the intake in there...everyhitng went right back together once i was done...i just needed to peel it back so i could get the old box out...theres actually 2 one underneath the car and one in the engine bay...both need to come out...once you put everyhting in then you just take the wheel well plastic and bolt it back up...or in my case it was one nut and i had to slide it back into place

Yea the chromintakes one was just an extension of a short ram basically, i followed the instructions and the whole 9 yards but in the end i had to cut it then step back and gaze, i was like wtf, i just put my old short ram on and its so0oo0oOO much better than chromeintakes, thanks for your help tho, ill be installing that accord one ASAP
I got mine in the mail yesterday. Semi long shipping and he isn't very talkative, but aside from receiving the smallest PVC hose ever with an intake, it seems like it should work great.

I'm 99% sure it's 2.5 inch piping, so no relocating the fuse box, should just go right in with no rubbing.

The filter's cheap so I'm gonna replace it with mushroom filter if it'll fit.

I'll try to do a step by step with lines drawn on where I end up cutting it, as well as pictures of removing the stock airbox and removing wheel well plastic. Mine was sent as one piece as well, but at least they sent two couplers.
lol, I just got mine yesterday too. It actually came in Monday, but I missed the delivery. My PCV hose was really short too so I just sleeved it over the existing one for now so that it will reach.

I got it installed last night as well. I ended up having to take probably 3-4 inches off of the downpipe where the filter connects to because it was way too long. I also had a hell of a time getting the box out from inside the fender because that one screw on top of the box is really hard to get at. I had to remove my fog light and use a little wrench to get it out.

The piping looked nice on the outside, but it was kinda rough on the inside, so i ground and sanded it smooth as best i could, especially in the bends I could reach. My pipe was also one solid piece with 2 couplers so cutting was necessary.

The filter you got is probably the same one I got, cheap plastic capped filter with what looks like a stainless mesh grille.

I think I will replace the filter as well because mine does press on the fender plastic a bit (if you look, you can see that it pushes the plastic out a little in one spot). I hope once my rims get here this week (?) that there will be no rubbing, I don't think the bulge is significant.

When I installed the pipe, I had to remove the fusebox, as I assume you will have to as well, but when I went to put the fusebox back in it's place, I could only get 2 of the screws to line up. The piping was causing the fuse box to sit slightly inward, so I was unable to attach the screw that goes through the side of the fuse box, but the one to the strut tower and the one to the bottom fit just fine.

My pipe also came with a U-shaped screw bracket welded to it, which i cut and filed down, because it pressed on the fusebox as well.

I also drilled a 3/4" hole for the grommet and the mass airflow sensor to go into on the underside of the pipe after the second bend in the S.

And yeah, the car roars around 4k rpm and it sounds cool. I'm not quite used to the hiss sound from the filter while the car is idling. Would a better filter (K&N, mushroom-style) reduce this strange sound? Would a better filter really help much at all?

It was a fun little project. Glad I could finally get my hands dirty! smile.gif I'll try to get a pic or 2 up with what I did.

This post has been edited by Sinyk: May 9, 2007 - 11:41 AM
I currently have a Weapon R SRI on it that was supposedly built for my car but I had to put on backwards, and it hisses like crazy. Kinda sounds cool. I don't think so much that it's the filter that determines the noise, I'm pretty sure that's just the way they sound.

I was thinking about sanding down the inner piping as well, cause the outside is ok, but yeah the inside is pretty rough. Don't know how much of a difference it'll make, but any positive change will be better than none.

I'll see if I can find a way to run the piping so that I don't have to modify or remove the fuse box while I'm working on it. Ideally I don't want to touch it. If I can I'll put up some info and pics.

Where did you put the cuts in yours?
