Yeah, I can barely get my auto ST up to 100 on level ground. I think downhill got it like 105, maybe. I may have been able to go a little faster with the OD off and really pushing it, but I think 110, 115 would have been the very upper limit.

with OD off you will not go faster than 100-105

99 project version 3.0.. hello SEMA 2010 =)
Keep in mind that the factory speedo is WAY off. Mines off by almost 6%. When its reading 133 I'm really only doing 125. GPS is about the only way to get an accurate reading.
took the pic. got the film back today and it was one big blur so i will try to borrow one of my friends digital camera and try it again

ummm i hit 135mph on the I-15 south from fallbrook to san diego all i had was a air temp mod, cold air intake, and exhuast(2 1/2 inche pipe). no fuel cut off occured just the rev limiter kicked in and wouldnt let me pass 6,800 rpms
No. That's all BS. You guys sure you're reading the MPH and not KMPH? My GT won't go past 120. I've tried prolly two dozen times. Your ST's won't go no 130 if mine doesn't go 120. That's with a stock ECU, I haven't tried with the upgraded ECU.

i know for a fact that my ST can hit 115 and if it didnt have the speed limiter it would go a little faster and thats on flat roads/highways.

now that i have the turbo on, i dont question the fact that i can go faster if the limiter was cut

agreed with you GT2GT4...you're eactly right. It doesn't really bog out, it just won't go past 120...it like sits there and jitters on 119 and 120.

SEE i don't think the speedo is that off, cause everyday i work, i go pass a poll mounted radar gun, and ive done about 85-90 past it, and it always says the same speed as my speedo..
My AUTOMATIC 3SGE japan celica go to 190 km/h and hit the limiter ...very easy...
here is the video:

how to cut this limit becouse on 3-th gear the car goes to 180 km/h and on 185 km/h just put hte 4 th gear and i thing there is more to show on the way...

cheers

haha awesome thread
do cdn cars have a limiter? cause my car does 195km/h
on the track of course
Agreed with all the talk about ST's being able to do 130 being BS. My GT 5-speed will always hit 115 then won't go anymore. There's no rev limiter, it just won't go any faster. I've been going down a hill and hit 126. And I've ridden in my brother's friend's GT that has been treated better than mine ever since it rolled off the car lot and he got 135 down a really big hill. So if our GT's don't want to do it, why in the hell would a slow a** ST do it with ease? No offense guys, I know I'm sounding like a douchebag here, but I've had an ST and now I have a GT. I don't believe for one second that my ST would do anything over 115.

i have been in 3 different celica GT's and each one tops out around 120 or so.

One is my 98 Auto
and one was a 94 gt manual
the other was a 99 gt manual

i've had my 99' GT up to 135 and it was still slowly pulling...i cant remember where it was RPM wise. but i was at 135. i had to slow down due to a curve up ahead....so it is possible. my GT has never shut off. oh and this wasn't down hill. this was on a flat straight stretch. call me a liar....but i have no reason to lie to you all smile.gif

I've been able to hit 125 on my 5 Spd 95 GT. Needle gets a bit slower but it does reach. Never had a cutoff.

Well by the way guys. I have a 94 celica with cold air and headers. Now my limiter stops me at 115 mph at about 5700 rpm. So ya there is no way you can up to 130 on a st celica. Now i plan on getting 17'" rims and new tires and taking off the limiter within the next 2 weeks. So i'll get some pics of my toping out my car before and after i take of the limiter. Now my bro has a 95 camry dx manual transmission with 5sfe engine. He can go 125 tops on flat road and was able to go about 130-132 going downhill. So thats just goes to show the gt celica can indeed hit 130 mph....

Good question. I did it just to find out how fast my car would go. Quite frankly, going that fast in a car this small scares the hell out of me. I'd rather have my car shut off at 90 but get there faster than everything else. That's just me though.

i have an RSM on my car that wires into the ecu and cuts out the speed limiter and i'm going for a rolling road, bhp, torque and top speed run on the 7th of december so we'll see what she hits then biggrin.gif but she is what she is, as long as she can overtake the car in front i'm happy biggrin.gif

If I had a GT4 I'll be worth testing. But my Gt I'll save my gas. biggrin.gif

Theres an open road in Northern MN, it's paved also, and no speed limit posted and its an public road! biggrin.gif

Fairly sure I topped out at around 115 as well, but I think it was rev limited. Flat highway.

because its f'in awesome...its a rush...i see these cars that break 200 MPH and im just like "wow, that would be amazing"...i just love speed...yeah it will probably be the death of me some day lol, but i still love going fast. but also as richee3 said, i would love to have a car that can beat anything to 90, but i still want a car with a high top speed.

What are the laws concerning unmarked speed limits in MN? I know here in Illinois, if the speed limit isn't posted, it's automatically 55. I'm just curious if it's like that in other states or if that's just here. I know Illinois is more strict than other states on a lot of laws.

no because it will be "on the track" right?
i had my 97 ST up to like 110.. thats enough in that thing.

the 94 GT i took up to about 110 as well.. thats plenty fast in one of these cars when they are all stock. it takes a while to get up to that speed.

my GTI i can do 120 in 3rd gear. laugh.gif
