Topic #4905 85 posts Started by yuvelq
ya i was letting it open up last night and i was going 125 in 3rd before the engine cut me off... hahaha
lmao 125 in 3rd gear???? 3rd takes me up to about 90 or so max iirc

you must have one of them crazy high revving celica's

you know why they put sheep at the edge of a cliff.... that way they push back!(2:27:32 AM) edit: please f*cking work, f*ck, sh*t, piss(2:28:08 AM) edit: that did the trick
oh sorry didn't read the whole thread.

i have a 3SGTE swapp:)
Doesn't have much to do with what your speeds are - more likely you are running an e153 tranny right? That has a direct effect on topspeed.
Still even then - 125MPH is very near the top of 5th for the S54 tranny - are the gear ratios that much different?

I wanted SuperSprynt's Celica, but I already had one of my own kindasad.gif My car gets in the way of better cars too often lol.

so from what ive read the 3rd gen 3sgte hits about 143 mph top speed. is this true. I believe the same goes for the SS-III with beams engine. I even asked a few members that had beams and they at 142 mph or 228 km/h they topped out.

But wondering about the speed limiter on the ST. they said they put the fuel cut at 111 mph cause of low speed rated tires. So even though it says 115 when i hit governor i guess its actually 111 mph. So anways looking at this website its about taking off the governor, but i was wondering if this is the right way to do it and if it is safe???

oh really darn. Cause i was hoping that i could get rid of the governor this way. I think i saw that link posted on here a year ago. So the only way to get the governor cut off is by buying this.

no way would i spend that much on that

cut the wire
run thin gauge speaker wire between thw two sides of the cut wire
put a switch on it in the blank spaces under the steering wheel

i did. its not worth it though. STs will hit 120-125 downhill with help from wind.
Its not worth it, its not safe. DON'T do it.

haha alright alright. I think i get the point but thx for that info. Helped me out a lot. wishing i could go a little faster. Just gonna have to wait for my swap later on kindasad.gif

ya i see what you mean presure2. I would probably only go like 5 mph faster to like 120 on the speedometer and after that i'd probably be wasting gas.

seriously, who wants to drive 125+mph in a ST?
god it must take 10 miles of open, downhill road to get there.
i know the 5s was a DOG above 80mph before the turbo.

haha i was somewhere with a looooooong straight road i think i went WOT for 10 min or so and never went above 110-115 in the ST laugh.gif

However i have hit 154 in just about a mile w/o hitting the rev limiter....eerr sorry that was in the M3 laugh.gif
i hit 105 on the interstate and thats if im lucky! has any one thought about asking one of these guys with the venom 4oo if they have a higher speed i mean if im right its a stand alone? wouldn't that help?
Whats with all these automatic ST guys trying to go as fast as possible all of a sudden.
The problem is that you guys have 90hp under the hood going through an automatic trans. Stop putting your life in danger by trying to floor your car for 10 miles, just for some bs bragging rights. Grow up... really.

you'll need a 3s swap or a gooood turbo setup.
105 is a good mid 13 sec. 1/4

I have a 5 speed ST. and when i was 16 i HAD to try it out. Getting to 100 wasn't too bad, but after was a frozen bottle of molasses. Def didn't do it for bragging rights, but more out of curiosity.

EDIT: pic removed. bad idea

just wanted to add but i got my 97 celica st up to 120 then the engine lights came on and wouldn't go any faster. And no it wasn't on 10 miles of flat ground i actually didn't take as long as i was expecting.

The speed limiter on my 95 was the rev limiter in 6th gear...I had it going 132 down the highway with stock tires and everything, was into redline...and then on ice one time this winter I hit 135 as I banged off the rev limiter in 5th. So thats that.

6th gear? Huh? you mean 5th?

mines a totally stock 94 GT. The fuel cut off (or something did) at 125mph. It just wouldn't accelerate anymore, even though it wasn't red lined yet. confused.gif Oh well.

I have a 95 Celica GT, the reason your car won't go any faster stock is because at 125mph your engine is taching right around 5800 rpm, which is the end of the power band for the 5sfe. I get irritated cause civics have longer gear ratios and can get up to 135 stock, that's crap
