Subwoofer is finished! - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #53195 54 posts Started by GotToyota
I finished my sub install up last night. I had chosen by the end of my work shift to go with the 10" Infinity Reference subwoofer, and man, am I glad that I did. This thing sounds amazing! It gets VERY loud (at least to me), without any rattling from outside or inside the car (I'm guessing my Dynamat played a roll in it). But it's briged to 2-ohm, running about 300W RMS from the amp. This thing is amazing! Loud, but best of all, you can't hear it outside of the car. It's exactly what I was looking for, sounds great with my hard rock, and amazing with my rap songs. Looks like I'll be listening to alot more rap now. biggrin.gif

It's awesome too, because my rear window has 20% tint, and you can't even see the setup through the window unless you shine a light through it, so at glance, looks like nothing is there. wink.gif The only downside to the project is that I no longer have any room in my hatch for stuff, lol.

No, I was originally thinking about buying a Basslink, which was a powered sub.

But I'm glad I picked this up instead. smile.gif

either way....3 for same topic
i think the best set up is infinity speakers and an audiobahn amp. i had 4 12 inch infinity kappa's and an audiobahn a8000t amp and that set up pounded. it was retartedly loud i mean if you sat in the car for a while with it cranked it would start to hrt your ears and make your throught feel funny.
i have a pair of those. god call on the sub. i love mine.
Looks good man, i think i would have mounted the amp somewhere else, its gonna get really hot there.

Sorry, no animated sigs allowed.
it needs to be bolted into the right side ... supposed to be opposite of the driver
says the guy thats done many competitions....(me)

So it can be left or right of the box, and it would be ok? I didn't want to do that, but if I have to, then I will.

EDIT: Could it be mounted on the right side of the box?

So the box should be behind the passenger back seat, and the amp should be to the left of the box, behind the drivers side back seat?

Does that produce better sound as well as give better cooling to the amp?

-Matt
well amp doesnt matter but sub does it should be on passanger side

I moved everything over an hour or two ago. I cleaned up the wiring as well.

I didn't really get a chance to listen to it, but what does putting the sub on the passenger side do?

-Matt
its supposed to be opposite of the driver for i believe sound depth, i know you are supposed to do it, i rarley did 1 sub boxes, it was a 2 sub box customized for 1 sub and amp... Im not exactly sure how it works, i can ask my guy and he will explain it better...

Awesome, I'd like to know what he says about it. I'm not disagreeing with you, but I'd like to hear more explanation then, "you're supposed to do it". wink.gif

-Matt
lol ya i know what you mean, i used to know.. been a while... its kinda like the same thing as you are supposed to point all speakers torward the driver
No, you dont move the sub around for sound depth. just try facing it a few ways and see if it is better. You don't need to point the sub towards the driver either. smile.gif
I heard you get alot better sound if you mount it on the hood

Cuz Thats How Us Country Boyz RollGrowing up racing motocross, i learned one thing..."Always wear clean underwear, you never know when the Paramedics are gonna have to cut your pants off of you"
I re-did everything in my car, moved the box slightly over and re-wired the amp. Looks alot cleaner.

It sounds great. I love it!

I was thinking about getting a 1/2 farad capacitor. Do you guys know if this would make a big difference?

I can get a Rockford capacitor for $40 at my work.
