i love seafoam - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #56288 59 posts Started by Valo666
So back in the summer when we bought sarah's car we seafoamed it out at my buddies place...made her car run sooo much better *has almost 200xxxMiles on it*, and at that time i bought a can of it for my car. I never got around to using it untill a day ago. I had some ticking coming from my head *think it was some carbon built up on on the valve seat beacuse i was burning some oil too. Any ways, i used it yesterday, 5 min after using it, no more tick, idel is much more constant, runs smooth as silk now. My idel use to jump around the 700-800 mark..now it sits perfectly at 750.

I seriously recomend using it. We are selling some other stuff at my work that does the same thing with an oil treatment for $66, go out and spend the $8 on a can and buy some seafoam.
i use it every other time i do an oil change and it works great....i had a vid. of it but i think it got deleted....i had 135,xxx+ and my car blew barley any smoke....thats what happens when y9ou change your oil every 3 thousand miles wink.gif ....but yea it made it run a lot smoother and i highly recomend it as well

its a fuel cleaner/oil conditioner, and carbon cleaner. Pretty much, u suck it out of a can through a vacuum line and it cleans the carbon out of your combustion chamber, if you throw it in b4 an oil change, it cleans the varnish off your internals and gets rid of sludge and if you put it in your fuel it cleans your injectors.
I've heard if your car has a lot of miles on it and you have never used seafoam it can do bad things to your car. Anyone heard this before? kindasad.gif
if you put it in your oil...yea...but sucking through the vacuum shouldnt be a problem.
i have never tried this, im scared something going to go wrong wiht my car. kindasad.gif
so for those of us over 200xxx who have never done it before, how should we do it? just through a vac line only?
I heard from a respectable mechanic to be cautious with it on very high mileage cars that have been abused and have never used it before.

What vaccuum line are you guys talking about? My friend uses this stuff and he sucks it in through the throttle body. Does it matter which way?
Can someone post up a how to, or a link to the use of this stuff? I too am a bit concerned of pouring the stuff in the wrong places!
Any problems with Turbo cars? I could use to clean the injectors for sure - varnish I don't need cause the engine only has 1K on it biggrin.gif
Any suggestions for my situation would be greatly appreciated

I agree i kind of want to use this stuff on my 176XXX mile ST, but where exactly to put it......

If anyone needs info on the Toyota Curren feel free to PM me!
pull the vac line that runs off of your intake manifold to your valve cover so that its no longer connected to the cover. (thats the one i used for my ST.) then have someone sit inside your car and rev it up to suck in that godly juice tongue.gif

granted, you could just pull the throttle cable in the engine bay but it's easier with two people!

**If you play My Brute, joing the 6gc.net clan!**--A section of a kid's actual test that had been scanned--
i did it on my 209XXX ST and it didn't have any negative effects

what I did was pulled the small idle adjustment hose thing that runs from that valve on the bottom of the throttle body to one of the nipples on the top of the throttle body. disconnecting that hose makes your engine idle around 2000 RPM, so no need to rev the engine. then allow it to slowly suck the seafoam in. don't submerge the hose in the stuff or the engine will die. do it nice and slow and then right when you're getting to the end, submerge it so the engine dies. let it sit for like 15 minutes and start it up. it's gonna take some cranking to get it started, but then when you do you'll have a munch of white smoke coming out the tailpipe and a cleaner engine smile.gif I'd strongly recommend that you DON'T put it in your oil! if you do, it's supposed to be right before an oil change, you only have it in your oil for a couple minutes then you drain and refill your oil with new oil. as for the gasoline, you can do that, but I'd sooner use chevron's techron (my auto teacher who is extremely knowledgable strongly recommends it). not just chevron gas but the little bottles you can buy at an auto parts store. he says chevron "with techron" gas isn't worth it because they don't put near enough in it to actually clean anything.

Funny thing for me is that I had so much smoke in the beginning for like 2 minutes and then it totally died and no smoke for the rest of the 13 mins approx lol.

I'm sure there are other brands available over there. If not someone here would send you some I'm sure. Find me a folding mirror relay and I'll send you a case laugh.gif

there might be some law against sending harsh chemicals over seas.

Very true - I didn't think of that.

here's the hose I used:
IPB Image

disconnect it from the idle control valve at the bottom of the throttle body (so it's still connected at the top) and stick the loose end of the hose in the seafoam.

is there different brands of seafoam or is it the brand named seafoam? Could I get this at crappy tire or should you go to your part guy/store? I should really use it, i have like 160ish kms on it but im starting to think that it may be miles :S so thats quite a bit of km's! i got the cars vin looked up here at toyota cause we know someone there and they said it was never registered in canada...and the gauges are aftermarket and in miles....i too wouldnt mind a write up if anyone had it cause i dont want to mess anything up either.

The brand is Sea-Foam and its in a metal can with red writing. We did it to Havok's GT with 209K miles on it, and it ran a lot better afterward. The hose we pulled was one of the ones on the pass side of the throttle body, and it worked fine. As long as the hose you pull off has suction (just put your thumb over it and see), it should be fine. Just make sure you keep the rpms up, and DON'T DO IT IN A GARAGE. As much fun as that was playing 'ghosts in the dark', it can get a little cumbersome.

"He won't come out of the bathroom. He keeps telling us we're dark somethings and not his friends.""Hmm. Ask him if he's the dragon reborn.""What?""Just do it."".......He said yes.""Tell him you are not darklings. He should open up."".......Sweet. Thanks.""No problem."
thanks 6strngs, i'll try that instead of directly into the intake.

Amsoil has it's own version of seafoam called powerfoam.
another question... my car has 92,xxx miiles do you think it'll make it run better or should i wait?

This is the hose I used, disconnected from the end the arrow points to. 224,000 miles on it w/a 90k engine.

Run engine until warmed up. Get a plastic water bottle that has the sport-nozzle thing on it. Make sure it's DRY inside, and pour about 1/3 of the can of seafoam into it. Use that disconnected intake hose to then suck the seafoam, w/the engine running, up. If the engine stalls it's fine, don't freak out. After 1/3 is sucked up, shut car off right away. Let it sit about 5 minutes, then restart engine and rev it or drive it around, just burn off the carbon/seafoam, it'll be smokey but it's okay, that will dissipate.

Key is, do this literally just prior to doing an oil change. You don't wanna drive around w/engine gunk running back through everything you just cleaned out.

Pour another 1/3 into a half-full gas tank to clean injectors/fuel system.
Nice im gonna try this ASAP ... i found one that says Engine Fuel and Diesel Treatment ; that it?
i have a can sitting in my garage , i dont want to use it since i live in a pretty big city with very lil open areas and i dont want to be making a huge cloud of smoke in my neighborhood , dont want problems .... i know that some shops do the de-carbonizing job , how much do u think it would cost ?
