>Ah yes Griffy [My main 6th gen woman] meet Ripley [Joe's main GT4 woman - she's my homeslice to you know tongue.gif ] - You too would get along famously.

Ok here's the promised finishup on the new STB. the last couple of days i've been strengthening the welds, slicking them down, sandblasting the whole bit and the filling the imperfections with JB Weld. Then I did one last pass with the circular grinder I love so much to mak it look namebrand quality and Voila!:
Paint goes on tonight along with much hightemp clear with the dust repellant properties, bake in oven a bit and then reinstall tomorrow.
Then it's on to cut the stock flanges off the stock 3 point, widen the part s that accept the new bars i'll be making from yet more hardcore tubular metal and weld it back together. The last thing Ill be doing is making one more for the rear [Pretty much for show but couldn't hurt]
And them someone is gonna have to give me an indepth guide on sway bar bushings, endlinks and mounts so I can overhaul them. Links to these items with red polyuerathane a muct. I've been thinking to gor twsrus in the endlinks and suspension techniques on the rest.
Anyone really knowledgeable in this field wanna help me out?

First I wanna say Its nice to see women around here theres not to many...Lol and I dont mean u Death not trying to offend you...
Ok so a few questions
#1 what do u use when u paint things in ur engine bay? Is it high temp stuff from autozone..bc I was thinking of doing that
#2 are u going to make any bars like that to sell bc I would be interested...It be much better then paying $300 for trd and will look perfect once painted.
#3 have u painted anything in ur interior or do anything to ur interior...Just looking for ideas.
I love the black and red soo much woot.gif

Quite all right - Fine ladies who do their own mods can feel free to congregate and spam my thread all you like wink.gif
#1 - I use the Duplicolor Caliper Spray Paint cause it's the only easily available red that is nice and deep true crimson like that without the orange. The secret with making that stuff look good is to bake whatever you are painting in some way. Engine parts tend to bake themselves as do the brake calipers obviously. I've been meaning to make a ghetto how-to on the method I use to paint brake parts - it's retarded easy, requires only one Walmart plastic bag per caliper and looks flawless when you're done. I'll make some time soon [I know a few of you probably have figured out the exact same "method"]. Oh - also go heavy on individual thin coats of clear coat [Same stuff] and let each of those bake too and the stuff will somehow magically repel 90% of the brake dust w/e - IDK how it works it just does somehow.
#2 - Totally. The biggest problem with that idea is perfect fitment [But you could do the last tiny bit with a dremil to ensure proper fit]. That's a whole long spill I'd rather get into over PM but def PM me - I'll be glad to tell you all about it and hook you up.
#3 - One of the few things I haven't completely recoen is the incredible job that was done on the interior bits being color matched to the equally awesome exterior paint job [Acura Nighthawk Black Pearl] - the credit for that must all be given to 95celGT who owned this car before I did. When I went shopping for this car to build up I only required a few things and a clean body was one of them - that I got beyond my expectations. Props to him and Chanh who came before him and chosse the rear end bodywork. I just decided to come back and completely change the look of the front to match my odd desires as mentioned above biggrin.gif Here's a pic of the interior work [Yes I know - too many gauges - trust me there is a plan involved that does not include rice wink.gif many of these are placeholders - have you priced EGT gauges recently?]
Since then I've done the Rav4 3 spoke steering wheel [Supernice - workin on some cheap ones for the rest of you guys too with a local junkyard]
And thanks about the color scheme - I like yours too [Red and black is just elegant and mean looking biggrin.gif ]

Firstly didn't I hook you up with either the front or rear N/A hood version for fitment? Any time you feel like bringing that back by I can finish the bars I've had laying around for you and Panda for IDK - 6mos probably? wink.gif It's all good - whenever you get the chance I can get you finished and fitted in two visits. We do at some point need to pay for all this material tho - it doesn't cost much but it's only right to pay my comapny's kindness back.

See the bottom of this post biggrin.gif

OK so this weekend I bought myself the ultimate Turbo car accessory - a DD. Meet Marilyn:

'93 Lexus LS400 with the upgrade [Some Japanese guy's name - w/e] sound system, air suspension or w/e you call it, heated seats, dual memory positioning of the seats, headrests [LOL], steering wheel, mirrors, etc. and best of all - dual climate zone fully automated AC system [Something Elise is completely devoid of]. The interior is absolutely flawless except the steering wheel hoop has normal wear - no wear on seats or armrests, carpets etc.
119K miles, the engine runs so smooth and is sooooo clean it make my GT2 look like tired old crap. Came from the Lexus dealer so it's got paperwork on the new timing belt, tensioner, plugs belts, hoses etc. The alarm's hood popper isn't working yet so I can't show you pics just yet but this thing is retarded clean. Gets pretty decent gas mileage too compared to you know who with twice the cylinders
Hell - even the factory 10 disc changer in the trunk still works
Ready to be sick? $2500 cash including tax title and liscense tongue.gif It pays to know people in the Toyota Sales World - that's all I'm saying. biggrin.gif
The Bad:
Crappy tint - paid for already I just gotta strip the old stuff first kindasad.gif
No alarm - fixed with a super nice Code alarm similar to my audiopage one in the GT2 already yesterday [Heh Heh - I got several $$$ worth of adaptors or what not to make it work with the Lexus for free cause my guy didn't know he'd need them and he's a straight up guy so he stuck to his price - so the door poppers and the remote start don't work yet but they will biggrin.gif ]. AND - He threw in those Boston Acoustic 6.5"s for the rear of my Celica [Who will donate her "old" rear speakers and the extra screen to the Lexus] that you see sitting in the PS floorboard. Those ought to finally be able to keep up with the 15" subwoofer I hope - 200watts peak on a 100watt/channel amp sounds right to me biggrin.gif
All of the above cost me $500 more with lifetime warranty on the tint and alarm install. so that brings the grand total of my new ride up to $3K laugh.gif - still need rims and tires and she'll be getting the same paint as my GT2 but with more metal flake and more blue pearl [Still want her to look black tho] and at that time I'll also be getting Elise's paint finished and massive amounts of clear coat will be had by both cars
You see alot of smiley's in this text - I'm in a rare giddy mood today, wonder why? Perhaps it was the descision I had to make this morning as I opened the garage ["Now which one do I want to take today..."] Fear not - the Celica will now only be used for clubbing, cruising and race days. She has at last earned her vacation [Some of you know the history of this car - she has indeed earned her rest].

Ha! Even my DD is slammed biggrin.gif Celica and the Lexus are roughly the same height.
Thanks to God/Jesus cause I got skillz with car deals but deals like this have to be gifts from above.

PM in the box wink.gif Next time, i'll just drive over and beat on your door laugh.gif (or call alex and get revenge for rippin the darwin fish tongue.gif ) *giggle*

As for the Altima, Her premio cousin came over, and convinced Claudia that the problem was the spark-plugs, and that's the reason there is no compression & it's burning oil cwm13.gif So after i said my peice, he tells clau that i'm retarted and doing too much work, and wasting Time & Money... that the whole car can run like new with just $2 x 4 spark plugs, combined with the ever so mighty oil change. laugh.gif Claudia believed and yelled at me to do whatever mr. UTI said, and what'do'ya'know? Sparkplugs have very little bearing on a blown headgasket rolleyes.gif She didn't wanna lissen to me, now she's not going to have a day off for a while, because she wants to have it in a shop. She's mad at me, because her and her cousin were unwilling to lissten. She wants a shop, she gets a second job and pays for a shop. biggrin.gif

Although i did buy mys Celi some NGK irridiums while i was there... thumbsup.gif

EDIT: I'm not mean to my gal or anything, but for those of you who aren't in the know, I was going to replace the HG, and was already into the block when all this cousin dramma went down. (1 more motormount and disconnect the tranny, i could have had a swap right then and there rolleyes.gif ) I offered to REDO all that work anyway, but she'll have to admit that i was right and her and her cousin were wrong if i fix it. But she'd rather have a second job (for a few weeks), and get a shop fix it that admit that laugh.gif

Works well actualy, Ya got the GT2 that's red, then the lex that's blue. Like fire and water. The celi deff brings some heat (i would know wink.gif ) and that lex should have a watergun mounted on top of it so that you can drive down the street squiring other cars in traffic. biggrin.gif

I will def post pics of the engine as it's so clean it makes our 3S's look like worn out old BS - seriously. The problem is we're having pop everything installed and the guy I contracted with was woefully ignorant on how many adaptors he would need to make that happen [Which consequently means I won't have to pay for that sh*t either biggrin.gif - as I said - stand up guy] - but unfortunately that means I havn't seen my new engine since Sunday afternoon.
I hate hate hate letting others work on my cars but the amount of functions this alarm boasts and the fact that it's going on what was a TOL Toyota for it's time I felt I might defer that one thing to the "experts".
My guy assures me he is assembling a real crew to knock my stuff out promptly and completely on Thurs with shuttle service in his rediculous truck. biggrin.gif
I'll get you some pics then.
Well my friend's this is probably the best place to tell you you'll be without my presense on this site for the next few days - business trip. Have fun and as manphibian said - behave [ tongue.gif ] "See" ya'll thursday [D-Man stay out of my garage the GT2 will not be there]

you got it! biggrin.gif

let's see ... Marilyn's curb weight is approx. 3858lbs so she actually weighs more than Vadar tongue.gif
but you've got 4 extra cylinders & quite a torque monster tho ... very interesting track matchup vs. R2's little 1.6L and/or Vadar!

shannon, all i knew how to do was oil changes, spark plug changes, brake pads, just general maintenance that my dad taught me which was actually more than my husband Joe knew how to do when we got married.
we learned together & we've swapped motors, done suspensions, clutch, and lots & lots of custom stuff we figured out on our own.
neither one of us would think of letting anyone do engine/tranny work on any of the cars ... it's a good feeling to accomplish tons of work on your own with confidence! thumbsup.gif

unfortunately, we will have to send R2 away next year to a shop to get paint & body work done since i will have a rear quarter panel welded on & lots of other bodywork + paint to complete the project.

looking forward to seeing Marilyn's engine bay shots smile.gif

You missed something... lol. It's a shared phone man, like me and my chick. I suppose she had the phone that day, or they had it turned to silent or something. But concerting we were supposed to meet up at one of the junk-yard strips (i was buying the Altima a New Engine biggrin.gif ) He never met up with me, so i figure'd maybe he'd be online. lol.

I think everyone in houston got that message. Ya know he offered to sell me the GT2 for a Nickle right? But seriously, I'd rather pass laugh.gif

Daaaang Matt, we called that car the drive-by, here in S.A back in the day! wink.gif Just paint the wheels on it and leave it at that.
I like the strut bar you did a great job, your cars looking great! Good job! woot.gif

Sorry, no animated sigs allowed.
Thanks bro - hopefully we will meet up soon and you can catch a ride in it. I like what you've been up to also [Girls like that are keepers biggrin.gif ]

Tiniest of updates:
Thanks to Stetsonaw, Okinawa and Batman for the info I got hooked up with the following:
1. Center hump floormat for the hyper sports mats I got from Ripley [Thanks Batman and Stetsonaw!]
2. Relay for JDM folding mirrors is on it's way from Japan [Thanks Oki!]
3. And I finished phase 3 of my audio/video project by installing my new Boston Acoustic SL60 speakers in the rear and cranked the bass up biggrin.gif
4. Should be picking up my SS-III black/red seats hopefully as early as this weekend completing my interior restoration [other than D-man and I will eventually trade carpets making my whole interior black - thanks Ripley!]

So now it's on to more important things:
1. Sway bar bushings/end links up front
2. Lago's LED knock detection mod
3. Crank the boost up finally [Yep - still on stock boost - I've been a good boy long enough - the Lexus was what I needed to make this mod happen]

Nice, you got the black and red seats. Those should look great in your car!

Sorry, no animated sigs allowed.
WOOOOTTTT!!!!! Got my Power Folding Mirror Relay and a ST-205 IC Decal I don't know what I'm gonna do with yet today in the various mails!
pics:

So that makes the following items I have in my possession to install:
1. Mirror Relay
2. SS-III Red and Black Seats
3. New OEM Fuel Filter [You guys see the new non-spin in the bracket design? - still waiting to get my spare 3S-GTE injectors back from the cleaners before I install this]
4. IC Decal in some nice subtle way - or perhaps frame it for the garage - IDK [That is if Ripley/Joe don't want it - theirs is a little messed up]
5. Powder coated VC
6. LEDs I picked up for the Lagos Knock Monitor mod

Think I'll enlist my ace mechanic sidekick [My oldest son] to help me with these projects this weekend biggrin.gif

Too many to Dyno my friend tongue.gif
My 13yo son enjoys working on the car as well as taking them to the track so no forced child labor anyway. Besides - he's already installed rear seats in this car before so he's a pro now biggrin.gif The 11yo only seems to enjoy video games and since there's none of those in the car I expect he'll be making himself scarce when the call goes out to work rolleyes.gif
Do you happen to have a diagram handy? I know there will have to be a few wires not represented on the control or mirror pigtails. Power in at the very least right?
