FS: HIDs kits (previously a GB) - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #60788 286 posts Started by GriffGirl
Edit: I'm currently working with a local supplier, and as such am able to receive and ship within an average turnaround time of 1 week, often less as he stocks 9006s in white to blue colors since they're the most popular for him. All specs on the kits are the same as before. I've been running this same kit in my own car since July 08, with battery acid on one of the ballasts even, and have had no problems whatsoever with them. And it rains here. A LOT. For 8 months out of the year. So I feel totally confident in the quality of these kits.

Here are the details on the kits:

For sale are HID kits shipped to your door for US$134.00 (this price is for the continental US).
High/Low HID kits are available (for cars that use the same bulb for the highs as the lows, not Celicas). Cost is $165 shipped w/in lower 48.
AK, HI, APO/FPO & International shipping rates vary greatly; please PM me for current shipping quotes.

This is the actual kit (photographed by myself, not a generic picture)

This is a 9006 HID bulb up close (photographed by myself, not a generic picture). Sorry it's kind of blurry. I'll work on replacing it with a better shot.

When ordering, I will need to know the bulb type and color temp you want, as well as your location if you are outside US.

I've been meaning to ask this, but are the ballasts and whatnots waterproof?

-Alex {](O_o)[}1993.5 Toyota Supra....with stuff........sorta broken....1998 Toyota Celica....this one, too, has stuff........broken....yeah...definitely broken....
They are well sealed to protect from water/moisture, and although they are purported to be waterproof, it would probably be more accurate to say that they are very water resistant. As far as resistance to normal conditions, you should not have a problem as long as everything is mounted properly and securely. However should you recover your vehicle from a pond or lake at some point in the future, I wouldn't count on the HID kit being salvageable. biggrin.gif
9006 is the headlight type for a '95 ST, correct?

Now... Since we have the headlights separated, would it look odd having the 8000k color for the low beams and then off-white for the high beams?

Definitely interested. Just gotta get my questions answered and you can count me in! biggrin.gif

I don't think it will look odd, I am going to have the same set up.
OK. Well, count me in. smile.gif

Yes, 9006 is the low beam, 9005 is for high beams.

"Yes, 9006 is the low beam, 9005 is for high beams."

This is for all non-projector type headlights correct? Then would the projectors require the H1 bulb?

... and these are plug 'n play correct?

Correct, that is for stock USDM bulbs. JDM low beam projectors are H1.
Griff... i have a blown ballast and bulb from sets that are still under warranty.... should i go through you for these or culp?

Breaking Axles...
Since they were purchased through Culp, you should go through him for any warranty stuff.
You mention plug 'n play but I was under the impression that the HID would require a "kit." A box for the transformer or whatever it is for the bulb and then of course the switch (possible not?) and bulb + wiring itself. Easy install I take it. Just connect the bulbs, run the wires, mount the box, and play?

digitalctrlLansing Computer RepairLaptop RepairGeek Squad AlternativeDon't hate me...I'm afriendlyn00b.:)
The box has a plug that goes to the wiring harness for your bulbs, then there's one plug off the other end that goes into the box, and there's another plug off that end of the box that the HID bulb itself plugs into. It's a little hard to describe but when you get the kit, you'll see exactly what I'm talking about. And yes, it's super easy to set up. The most "difficult" part is mounting the bracket for the ballast (which of course isn't difficult at all!)
bump, let's get this list goin' so we can get an order placed, eh?
do we have to get 15 before the order can be placed?

You say you don't understand how we go dumb, but have you ever been where i'm from?-=-] Livin it in tha bay's a lil different [-=-
Yeah, unfortunately it's the minimum order I can place. I put a thread up at celicatech for them too, to try to help move things along a bit. If it doesn't pick up in the next week or so, I'm gonna push the date back to Monday, September 15th.
Come on ya'll - these are really nice HIDs - I have them on my car and I can tell you they are durable as hell too. My horror story:
Previously my ballasts weren't mounted - just left rolled up near the lights. Well one day I was driving on Houston's Inner most loop and since it's so old but still gets Hella traffic it has some really rough spots. I Hit one of those bumps in the road that basically looks like a speed bump but at freeway speeds [70mph here] so it's one of those ones that lifts the drink from your cup holders and bangs your head aginst the roof at the same time. So as I'm trying to recover my drink, rub my head and keep the car straight I didn't hear that the DS side ballast had fallen through the big hole next to the battery inside the fender well area. So basically the ballast was hanging by it's wires and bouncing between the ground and the tire doing 70mph down a rough ass freeway for several blocks.
Got home - repaired the wiring and mounted them properly and they fired right back up and have not had any problems since. That's durable IMO. Mount yours up correctly the first time and you'll never have a problem with them durability wise.
Further to this - Griffgirl is a good and trustworthy seller and she needs your business to fund some desperately needed tires. Buy some already!

1st post edited - I'm extending this out to the 15th of September to allow some more time to get this order together and give some of the Celicatech guys a chance to get in on this too. Don't forget, you don't have to just get these for your 6gcs, you CAN get other bulb types for other cars too!
Can you guys still get the IIRC 3K kits for the fog lights? If so I would want a pair. Let me know ASAP
I'll have to ask Culp about that one, I think that might be a special request deal. I'll get back to you as soon as possible though, hopefully by the end of the day today (PST)
no special request, that's 100 % possible. we can pretty much get any type of HID.
