I think that despite a few little hiccups in round-1 polling, we pulled it off really great and it's going to be a huge success. I've been thinking about this all day now. I'm just not sure what to say given the drama that ensued in the other thread. It was never my intention for it to go down that way and I feel kinda crummy about it. So I apologize for any way that I may have contributed to the little drama that ensued. Please address any comments about the thread via PM so we can keep this one clean and well, without any awkwardness or drama. That being said, I'm just gonna move past it and move forward with the project.

I'm going to make a minor change with the submission requirements. I'd like anyone who already submitted and all future submissions to please fill out a very quick photo release form that basically says you have permission to use the image, the car(s) in the image, and that you're not going to get all freaky against me or 6gc if you some day decide you should've gotten famous or something off this. I've made it as a quick and easy email form that you can find here. (My site is down, so currently the form is not available)

I know a lot of you had wished for a later submission deadline, so I'm throwing October 31st out there, and I'll put up a poll on November 4th because I won't be around on the 3rd, and November 4th is election day here in the US and I thought it'd be funny, and likely the best thing to vote for that day given the choices.

Submissions can be sent to 94CelicaGirl (at) gmail.com. You MUST put 6gc in the subject line!!!! (to avoid SPAM traps)

Here's some of the criteria, copied from the "other" thread:
I've found a way to have these made on an as-ordered basis so no one actually had to go directly through me; once the calendar is available for sale, they will be shipped within 24 hours of placing the order. They will be full color, full bleed spiral bound 11" x 17" and will cost $24.95 plus shipping (about five bucks for shipping in the US, a little more for Int'l.) If you order them in multiples (say the whole Houston crew wants to go in and have them all shipped to one presumably not floated away location) there are quantity discounts that increase in percentage with the qty. ordered. 2-11=5% off, 12-49=10%, etc.

I feel very strongly that images that will appear in the calendar shall be chosen by poll, but I will dictate which images will go into that poll, to be determined solely by using my professional judgment as to whether or not the image is viable for print or not. Having almost 15 years of experience as a graphic designer, I feel that more than qualifies me to make this assessment. If I feel there is an image that is not suitable for print, I will contact the person who submitted it and request a higher resolution image. If one cannot be provided, it will not be considered for publication. Once that assessment is made, my decisions will be final and not open for discussion. I'm not going to produce crap so someone's feelings don't get hurt. I'm nice, but I'm hard core when it comes to putting my name behind something. If you don't like it, don't buy a calendar.

Here are a few screen shots with EXAMPLES of how it might look. I chose these images to use for demo purposes only; they are in no way to imply that ANY decision or selection process has occurred at this juncture in time. It is not a final design BY ANY STRETCH (particularly the cover!). It's just something to look at for now.

I'm happy to do it - thanks for the support. I love what I do for a living; I think it's amazing that people pay me money to do graphic design because I'd probably be doing it anyway. This is a great opportunity for me to combine the two things I love most - graphic design and cars. It doesn't get much better than that!

I still have the submissions that were either emailed to me (goferris, shannon, etc.) or posted up on deviantart.com. It's SUPER busy at work right now, but if I get time later I'll put together a gallery that you guys can view to see the submissions thus far. Please don't vote on anything yet though, I don't want the voting to be influenced unfairly, I think everyone deserves an equal shot.

I'll buy some calenders for sure.

hey griff what do we actually put in the photo file names box??? do we put the direct link to the image or the name the pic owner wants for the pic?? like for my pic i would put "A day in Paradise" in the photo file name(s) box???

Nah, just whatever the actual file name is, so that way if I get DSC1004256874456.jpg I know it's yours. If you name the photo, say, Bob or Harold, just keep that one to yourself. LOL

Looks good to me. Any chance of putting some info on the page with the car (ie., user name, mods, etc)? That would be nice so that those of us whose celis aren't quite there yet can get ideas from the pics of mods they'd like for their cars, (particularly exterior mods). Hell, I don't care if mine gets in the calendar or not, just having Griff use it on the calendar mock up made my day.

DEFINITELY. It's definitely the best way to ensure print quality images! Don't worry about image quality when I post anything sent in as RAW for the voting though; images will be optimized for web, not for print, when they're posted up for voting. I know my stuff and I won't screw up anyone's images that are chosen for print.

I really like that shot, personally... we see so many images on here of our cars in the summer (for obvious reasons), it's a nice change of pace to see some nice snow shots!

bumpo im just got new rims.......never had a photo session. i might do it at the same place as the previous........or i might see if any swells pick up and try to get that "surfing in hawaii" theme. that's if them tourists dont take the good spots

I was asked if more than 2 (or whatever it originally was) submissions can be made. My answer to that is yes - but with a caveat. For the "6gc election day" I don't want to post a million pictures of the same person's car, so I plan on basically exercising my judgment and selecting the best 3 (at most) images for the actual election. My criteria will be based on a few things: print quality in terms of resolution and layout/positioning for the calendar itself, composition (interesting locations, background) and actual car placement/angle. I would like to have a really strong variety of angles and backgrounds to create some nice variety for the calendar. I'm also going to choose the most professional looking shots among the groupings; so if someone sends me 15 pictures that look like cell phone snap shots, and two that look really good and look more professional, I'm gonna post up those two and bag the other 13.

gotcha now im just waiting for the crappy weather to start. its hurricane season......so that means big waves........but not much sun

try and get some pics with big waves... that would be awesome
