hey can you quote like everyone else? Half of your posts I don't even bother to read because
of all the>>><<< $$## crap, and whos conversion is it yours or pipes?

Could the original poster post some pics that someone can actually see something. I was under the impression the rear
clip from a 205 was used but the pics above look like a modifed 202 subframe with a bunch
of reinforcement. The pics on the first page are pretty much useless, it says excuse the flash but then you say they are cell phone pics.
I don't own a picture phone, but I didn't think they had a flash?
I can't believe anyone would do a project this big and not take any pics of the progress. My BS flag is being unfurled as of now.

JDM guy made me do it.
a lot of camera phones have flash.... come on randy, get with the times!!!
my camera on my phone has flash, auto focus, and 2x optical zoom, iso settings...lol and its 5 MP

Like I said I don't own a camera phone. I have a couple digital cameras so I never saw the need. wink.gif

JDM guy made me do it.
Wow...thats some project to undertake....100% for effort.....but unfortunately only 10% for result...no offense or anything but that looks like the most dangerous set up I have ever seen, I hope your not going to take it on the road like that. Knowing how much force goes through the rear end of a GT4 its likely to rip itself to pieces very quickly

My Facebook GT4 Build page.https://www.facebook.com/groups/GT4Rebuild
This will be my last post on this subject until the car is complete I jus wanted to share the progress.... 1 the pictures by gman are of my car he came by...... 2 the floor pieces are of a gt-4 that's how we fitted the gas tank etc...... 3 as har as it holding up when you have the floor of the gt-4 and the floor of the st204 there isn't much differnce the part that holds a stock gt-4 cradle is held in by 6 spot welds and glue... also the frame rails are narrower.....4 the reason there aren't many pics is because we were concerneed about finishing the project than making a play by play account....somebody said it can't be done we just wanted to see if it was true.. thanks for all the support sorry for the crappy pics any of the boston members are more than welcome to come take a look.... any questions shoot me a pm...... I'm off to finish this beast

pipes, just wondering, did you only got the floor pan of the gt-four? or did you get the entire rear half of the car? if you got the entire rear half i have a couple of awd conversion pictures that might be of help in re-inforcing the rear end.

Yeah gman has seen it.... I call him to take pictures seeing as he has a real camera.... and yes whole rear clip pics would be cool

It is "Finished " in the sense that it is on the ground with an AWD drive train and an ST205 engine installed.
Once the gas tank and other stuff is installed, it wil be a runner I am Sure. thumbsup.gif

Stock gas tank to go in.

ST205 engine in.

RHD Interior

Pass side of the Rear frame

Front of the driver's side rear frame, mounted.

More pics later ? Rather hard right Now with the car on the ground.
If I put on some ragged clothes and get down and dirty...

Best of luck to completion. woot.gif

Gman posted up pics. So Gman probably saw it haha.
I wish people would calm down in this thread - it's getting very close to completion. Imagine how you would feel if you're all hyped up about nearing completion of something so sought after and all anyone can do is talk trash and call BS. Another member has been over to see it and posted pics and the invitation has been given to stop by and see it.
The only thing I can say is some of those welds look not so good - others look very good. If it were me [and I've done a fair bit of structural welding in my time] I'd be going over every one of those and strengthen everything I could. I also assume you will be putting the car through a series of progressively more rigorise testing - we don't want the next update to be you dead [or other drivers] or the car mysteriously took a left all by itself and is now a pretzel [has happened with this very swap before].
Good luck

Thanx death.... glad you understand...but can you point out the welds that you think are weak? And yes lots of testing will be going on to make sure....well if you can point those out so I can redo that would be awesome

I don't have any way to draw on the pic itself but it should be really obvious from this pic which type of weld I'm talking about. The one to the left of the red bit there is really really bad. It appears you may have forgot to open your gas valve due to the cavities visible even in these pics. Also it appears that it was not burned in very well but I can't really tell from here. You'd be surprised the difference between the forces exerted on those welds now vs what they will be when the car is on the road. If it were me I'd be making it as strong as possible and screw the weight [You've already added tons of that so make it right IMO].
Not coming down on your work at all - just trying to make sure you and the car stay as safe as possible.

BTW - You have excellent taste in tires biggrin.gif

Well Man SERIOUS RESPECT to you I apologise in advance but i will be howding you with questions the whole time man. The reason for that is i have an ST which im planning to make awd and putting in a 3sgte engine instead of my little 7afe engine. I have a full 92 gt4 shell with the engine and all the shafts and that. First question did you change over the gear shifter after new engine or the stock work for you.
I take it that shell is totalled or why would you do all that? Insurance scam LOL?

the 5th gen celica rear end is narrower by a few inches.
can you use the parts? prolly, but its gonna be narrower in the rear, than in the front, which i imagine will NOT be good for handling at all. lol
and if you dont know which shifter you would use, you need to stop dreaming about the AWD swap, and start learning about these cars. wink.gif

I agree with pressure....well almost... I believe the axles are what makes it shorter... its the same rear so st205 axles may make up the inches you need

Thanks for the advice appricate that but have made measurments and look into this for over a year before starting it and the stock can be used but no harm in having other opinions on the topic from people that would have a little more experience on the topic.
Thats right pipes the shafts and rear dift will all work fine but you are right will have to get st205 axles to make up the difference which will have it all sorted. smile.gif

from the pic, do you have enough clearance, it does not look like it, you barely make that 4 by 4. Seems like the axles are pointing downward instead of upward. I am no expert, but maybe thats ok. I was just pointing out. Make sure you weld it right. but in any ways, great job done

Learned a lot in 10 years...I hardly log in anymore, last loginToday Sept 6 2019, and I was forced just to clarify a post. LOLIf you PM me and I dont respond, dont fret or cry. Depending on wich picture.....the crappy ones ore the good ones? Some pics were with the car in the air others with the car lowered
